Boy oh boy, that takes me back a bit, especially the "Rootes Group" stuff, as I started driving on my 17th birthday in 1964, as an apprentice electrician, in a Commer 'Cob' van, one of several in the fleet of the company I was working for. Column gearchange, 'umbrella' handbrake, pedals that went through the floor, steering that needed some muscle to turn etc! I love older vehicles, but not sorry to see the back of some of the 'features' some had. My first car at almost 19 was a 10 month old Triumph "Vitesse" 6 cylinder (still a few around today), though my office worker pals could only manage Austin A30/35's and a Standard '8', so I guess I was lucky, though I had to do a lot of overtime to get and run it. Those were the days!

My first car was a 12 year old Ford Anglia 105e (circa 1965), in two tone blue / grey - for the younger reader - Harry Potters car that flew over the Glenfinnan Viaduct (the Harry Potter railway bridge on the way to Hogwarts) - look at the literary info your'e all getting tonight :giggle:

My Pal had a vitesse, great to work on tilt the whole front forwards (bonnet and wings were one unit), then sit on the front wheel to work on the engine.
