A small dedicated group had a dream to put steam back on the Dorrigo branchline in Northern New South Wales. It took several years of negotiating with the authorities to get the ownership and take on the mammoth task of getting the line back to being operational . This video from 35 years ago tells what the line was like back in the hey day of steam and what it is like now, well 1984 anyway... Enjoy. Cheers, Gary.
They should have built a museum, at the Rhonda Site if they had I’m sure a thriving museum would have grown with a branch line down to the disused back platform at Cockle Creek would have been a perfect Tourist Railway with main line connection, with a huge member base to draw from in the Newcastle area. I remember walking around the yard a Rhonda as a kid If you go past there now you would never know anything had ever been their it just a big grassed area.
