Just received this kit from Ellis Clark Trains, an Ivatt Class 2, which I gather a few of were used on the Southern. The kit appears complete (except for one missing buffer), and is part-built using Araldite or similar, only slight snag is there are no instructions, which I was aware of. I think (hope) that I've now sufficient knowledge to be able to complete this kit, although I won't be starting it yet as there are a few others in the queue before this one.

As can be seen, a large part of the body work and chassis are already complete, although I'll need to look at the connecting rods, as the wheels bind slightly in a couple of positions. Fun indeed!

Maybe worth investing in a new motor / gearbox, as that open frame motor won't half eat the juice, if you decide to keep the old motor, a TCS T1 decoder should be able to cope with it.

Do the wheels self quarter, or are they the manual type.

You could try smearing a bit of tooth paste in each wheel be3aring and run it for a while, clean off well for a nice white shine - sorry, then run with brasso, each will have the effect of bedding in the bearings and reduce tight spots. Finally needs a real good clean and lubricate.

Looks good from here Keith. The body certainly looks neatly done. What I can see of it.

Try laying the coupling rods on top of each other to check they line up with each other, you may need to ease the holes a little.

Looking forward to when you make a start mate .

    Cheer's, Pete.
