I'd better not forget to pack the double slip then, I don't want to hold back the building surge.

    Arrived today.

I'll try and get a few pictures of the kit up later tonight when Lulu brings me back from my training classes.

    Ok,

a few pictures to give you an idea of what is included. I did not separate them all out as they are better protected the way they are until you are ready to build it. Then you'll get a better look at the parts individually.

A fair size box and everything pretty well packaged.

all the parts are labelled and packaged in separate bags.

various layers of ply, MDF or veneers to go together.

structural bracing for behind the main fascia giving the kit the support it needs.

and the main elements which are a mixture again of MDF, ply and veneer facing panels.

it looks a well thought out kit and comes with illustrated instructions. I have had a look at the instructions and they are ok. I think after the first brief look, they could maybe be a little clearer and the use of a few more individual stages explained in a bit more detail but they are not beyond the means of man. Just my thoughts.

    cheers for now.

They look better when you can see the decorative elements but I did not want to unpack all the pieces just yet. However, you wont have long to wait. they will be on the go soon.

    cheers

Really nice kits. the difference will be in the painting and weathering. make a mess of that and its just another kit. The potential is there for something really nice.

As the parts are wrapped in separate bags, do you open them in order of build? I imagine if you open them all at one go it may make it a bit confusing.

When painting the kit, tone down the colours a shade or two. The eventual finish will look great. Take your time with the painting and build. In the end, a better product will be achieved.

    Cheers, Gary.

Made a start on this today whilst I'm waiting on my platforms to dry out after a little filling with plaster.

    here we are .......

start off by laying the three main frontages side by side on a flat surface and gluing the two joining strips to hold them together as one structure.

    and again.

Then we assemble the rear supports made up of vertical and horizontal strips that key into each other .....

    and again .....

Then the second half of the support structure goes in and this is where we leave it to dry out for now before continuing any further.

    more later as it happens.

    cheers

    Some more progress .....

flipped over onto its rear to reveal the front fascia and the first thing I done was to install the louvres.

you can see where the decorative pillars are to go ....

    so I made a start ......

and along the front I progressed .....

installing the window sills as I went ...... and then .......

Wallop ...... the wrong corner piece had been supplied. they had given me two right handers. So ..... in the interest of getting on I decided to make use of what I had.

and butchered the one I had. It looks worse than what it is and once painted can be hidden.

and there we have it .....

    on the layout ......

    and another.

now, I have to do the doors, paint the windows prior to installing and fit the roof with the sheet sarking as well. I may get a bit more done later tonight after dinner.

    cheers for now

That's pretty amazing stuff Toto, I never knew Timber Tracks buildings were made up like that... I wonder if they would make something to order. Great work  I'm liking it.

    Hi York Paul,

I'm sure you can phone them to discuss bespoke items. This build was very easy. the roof has still to go on and I have the windows and doors to do yet. i'll paint them whilst they are still off. Should be easier and a bit tidier that way. I might get started on that tonight.

I'll chuck a few more pictures up as I go.

    cheers

Brilliant Toto, I look forward to seeing the build progress. What I like about the Timber Tracks modules is how quickly it seems getting the texture surfaces, much better than Plasticard overlays or embossed papers. What I want for my backdrop is a profile side wall and roof of the ERF Fodens lorry factory in Sandbach... I'm sure if they did this then that could be adapted for multiple other scenarios elsewhere for other modelers layouts. I'll ring them tomorrow me thinks.
