Here are some of my pics of locos from around New South Wales.. I'll start with 10 steam locos, including one tram and an electric 46 Class (Metropolitan Vickers) on shed with other steam locos. ^ The turntable control room just blocks out 3642 (left). Also present is 3830 (last of the Class) and 3237. ^ 2510 under cover at Trainworks, Train and Rail Museum (Thirlmere). ^ 55995 under cover at Trainworks. ^ 3820 under cover at Trainworks. The 38 Class is my favourite... ^ 1210 at Trainworks. ^ 3237 'Hunter' which belongs to the Lachlan Valley Railway, shown here at Sydney Central. ^ Another Lachlan Valley Railway 59 Class, 5917 on shuttle duties at Sydney Central. ^ 3237 and 5917 back its train out from the Valley Heights Museum onto the mainline. ^ On shed at Valley Heights is 5461, 4601 (Class leader - Metroplitan Vickers electric) and I'm assuming the 0-6-0 saddle tank No.2 is a Manning Wardle locomotive. Steam Tram 103A, still running after 100 yeras of service. Being built in 1891 it was fully restored after almost being lost to fire when it was housed at Parramatta Park in western Sydney. Well, that's it for now. I'll post up more NSW locos on the trot. Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, All great photos. Difficult to single anyone out but 1210 at the train works looks particularly good. Thanks for posting them up. Toto

What a great set of photo's Gary, thanks for them. There are a lot of similarities between UK and Aussie diesels I think!! Cheers Ron
That a good selection of photos you've posted there Gary. The 0-6-0T at Valley Heights was built by Robert Stephenson and Co., and has the nickname "Stevo". It was added to the Society's collection to represent the locos running on the typical rural roadside tramways of the 19th century such as the Camden and Yass lines, as well as private lines like Saywell's Rockdale line. These locos were built by Manning Wardle or Hudswell Clarke. When Stevo was being restored at Thirlmere the cab sides were modified to look more like the cabs of those early tramway locos. You can see the original cab here: http://www.australiansteam.com/Stephenson 2994.htm At the time I suggested replacing the entire cab with a new one in the style of a Manning Wardle "jam tin" cab, but the rest of the board weren't keen on the idea. Cheers, Mark.
Great Photos Gary, What a shame Aussie model trains are so expensive. I suppose we don`t have the population here to warrant a production run that could bring the price down to match the British models that are available. Cheers Gormo
