    Hi Veers
That's not good that the cars are warped did you know that they were damaged before purchased.
Where did you get them from? Eureka or private sale ?? If it was eBay and they weren't listed as damaged I'd put in a claim if it was direct from Eureka send them back.

I have a set of the HUB cars in the mail as well at the moment it's a bit of a worry that they warp so easly have seen several sets for sale for parts on the Eureka stand at exhibitions as well.

It was from Eureka, I haven't emailed Ron back about them. Personally, he said it was the last set and I'm not super worried at this time.

Poor choice on my half not to do anything however.

I would get on to Eureka ASAP and get a refund. With the email he probably won't respond but do it so there is a paper trail when you have to go to consumer affairs, I would ring and do it over the phone the sets are too expensive to be getting heat damaged ones. Esp,sent direst

FYI Casual hobbies have 1 set only left in the deep Red (Indian Red)with two yellow lines from memory factory weathered as well, its on top shelf behind the counter out of normal eye site,
I'm not sure They even realised that they still had a Hub set as I asked about it and at first was told it was a NCR set up,top but it was a HUB set.
Also you could check out VIC Barnes Hobbies at Lampton they had 2 Tuscan and russet sets about 6mts ago in the shop.

May be worth getting a refund and contacting Joe at Casula or Nathan at Barnes Hobbies to see if they still have on the shelf

NSW photos aplenty at the State Library website. Used to be called picman but now it is part of the general catalogue:

If you do a search under a different name, Newcastle railway for instance, tick the box for records with images.

I've emailed Ron about it, I don't recall seeing a HUB set at Barnes when I visited about 3 weeks back, but I may have missed it.

You'd think that heat damage wouldn't be such an issue with post these days, international perhaps.

Honestly, I might yell at AusPost next week about it. Just because I do it for everything else. And then remember to get extra insurance and stuff on them for the future, or use a different postal method. Had good experiences with Startrack, not so much with Auspost, even though they are one and the same.

    Austpost own Startrack...,

Looking back at your pics, the models look to be heat affected.

    Cheers, Gary.

Yea, it baffles me how they can be the same but vastly different in services.

If that occurred in the post I would be very surprised I suspect Ron has tried to parm off a set that was damaged like I said have seen several sets he was trying to flog off at exhibitions
I suspect he has a storage issue or a transport one when the models shipped from China the container may have been top load and got very hot inside
Get a refund or replacement if you don't have any luck with Ron ref to it to Fair trading he has a very poor record with them to quote fair trading . "not him again" "what's with these toy trains". Good luck with it let us all know how you go.

Re Barnes it would have been 6mts ago, so quite possible to have been sold
But I was a Casula last Friday week and Joe had a set it's not listed on there web page though hiding on top of the shelf behind the counter.

So for future reference, inspect Eureka before purchasing.

5 minutes into the hobby and I'm already in the wrong neighbourhood!

Eureka are the reason I decided to go full boar into NSWGR Oscale as I had a bit of a issue with them 10 years ago and it turned what was dabelling in O scale into a serious obsession with Oscale.:hammer:

Now I have just purchased a Hub set  was the right price and a known seller so finger crossed no issues with it.

Veers, Once you get a good set I'm sure you will be happy with the cars, a few friends have them and they are nice, when I get my ones,I will do a post on the modification to the bogies you need to do so they run with no issues with tracking of the bogies that often results in a derailment.

    Best of luck with ithttp://www.click

I did get a reply, very simple. Please return them to me email.

Don't wanna, I liked the green box. Personally, I was just going to leave them and attempt a repair later on. I've had some success with bending plastics before, so all that I am hoping is that the paint would need redoing if it goes off.

    :/ Thoughts?,

Personally I would send them back. By all rights, they should have been 'good straight models' from the get go. If you do attempt to straighten them out and it is unsuccessful, you won't be happy, not to mention that you can't send them back or make your money back having to sell them as damaged goods...

    Cheers, Gary.

I think I'm getting more disappointed as this drags on. Should have just left it. Perhaps I'll be happier once some more stock arrives this week, and I stick down a deposit on a new costume...

Done some more fiddling with the station design, a lot in my head as well. But enjoying taking my time researching and looking into the era. :)

Veers I would strongly Recomend sending them back and getting another set the web Site say still has in stock.

A asked a friend who got a couple NCR's cheap and tried to straighten he said wasn't very successful as he thinks the plastic seems also to be affected making it brittle

So the replacement arrived yesterday and by all looks, they look exactly the same, except no warping or damages. I'll post some photos later but 100% a-ok.

That seemed to be more effort than it should have been though :/

Going to head to the heritage archives in Sydney at some point for some specific 1940s research, this is a long term project and I'm probably going to have just as much fun researching as I would with construction. :)

But all that is slow due to limited funds.

Great news regarding your coaches. You too would be 100% happier ! :D

Just remember, if you intend running the NSWGR C38 Class, these were built between 1943 and 1949 ! So if you were thinking of modelling the period of say, 1943-1945, it would mean using any of the lower running numbers, from 3801 (in service Jan 1943) to 3805 (in service 02 March 1945). The other 26 C38s were completed between mid 1945 to 1949. ;)

Looking forward to any research you do. Keep us posted on how your travelling.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Alrighty, 2017.
No new updates from myself, lots happening on many topics. I do have this though, so a big step forward as I now rely much much less on Dad's tools.
    :D

Also talk of extending the shed with an additional room, which would then be the train room (only about 20 years late in construction). But that would give me plenty of space for construction and running a permanent layout, if I so desired. Plank first!
