I'm on the look out for wagon design drawings with plans and sized dimensions etc. I've just bought a couple of books, the details of which I'll post up but if anyone knows of any with the emphasis on drawings / plans etc, I'd appreciate the details. Mostly stock up to the 70's would be best Scottish, LMS, BR and LNER etc.

    Cheers

    Toto

I have the Highland Railway Carriages & Wagons book by Peter Tatlow - good selection of drawings and you know where it is when you need it. Also have a copy of Carriages & Wagons of the Highland Railway by DLG Hunter some good drawings and pics, and some drawings are mere sketches with overall dimentions, again you know where they are.

Somewhere in the loft are a lot of scans of Ian Beattie drawings from the Railway modeller, I will need to look for them.

Worth looking for are the LNER series of books by Peter Tatlow - Grey in colour, 4 volumes (5 books), can't remember the exact breakdown, but vol 3 is Ex Scottish Pre group Wagons and vol 4 is LNER standard wagons - he must have taking lessons from Hollywood as the last volume is over two books.

    Amazon links
    1 Southern Area
    2 Northern Area
    3 Scottish Area
4A - LNER Standards - Opens and Hoppers
4B - LNER Standard and other designs

Check the prices as some of them are over £80 for a second hand copy - £45+ for someone to remove the cellophane wrapper wow, I'm in the wrong job.

Nothing beats the real item, a tape measure, note pad and a nice warm summers day!

That's me b#####d then, normally on the rare occation we have a warm summers day, I normally get to work in the boiler house, not sit outside. On my day off it rains :whatever:

Looks like I will need to investigate this concept :scratchchin:

Nice set of resources, would be nice if HMRS gave a price £0:00 on each link, but then give an apply for quote link is a little worrying.

If you drive to an item, they are priced per print dependant on paper size!

As you might imagine I have quite a large collection of wagon drawings.
Most are prior to 1948 but I have a few BR example's I think.

Many are digital but I have around 120 paper drawing's as well.
If you let me know what you want specifically I will have a look.

If you are planning wagon kits and you need a test builder then I am your man. I am never more happy than when building wagons.

Rob, do you have any modern image? I’m still trying to source some for the PAA (despite having the real thing) and also one of the other sand wagons of which only one again made preservation... an MTV later ZKV?

Really some common vans and open wagons first would be good. Dimensions would be better.

I'd like to get half a dozen on the go to start before venturing into the more obscure.

    Hi Toto
Have a look at HMRS constructing 5 " Gauge Wagons. I attach a photo of the very detailed plans that are included drawn to half scale for 5 inch . IMG_20190423_152211748.jpg

Most drawing dimensions can be scaled if you know a key dimension like the wheel lase or height from the rail. That's how I scale my drawings for the Silhouette Cutter.
