Shop 2 specialises in repair and maintenance of steel bodied wagons, originally equipped with a stationary boiler outside for generating steam to power machinery, the bolier is now redundant and stands rusting away.

Out the back is an ex-RAF 6 wheel mobile crane bought surplus for general lifting around the site.
To the front is the water tank still used to supply the works steam locos via the nearby water crane.

Inside is one bay with machine tools, benches, steps, trestles and an office with desk, seating and filing cabinet.

    Construction

Shop 2 is built from two Piko engine shed kits, I think the water tower was originally a rather battered Wardie model that I have roofed and detailed up including outlet pipe (to the water crane) with shut off valve, and an overflow pipe.

A corrugated roof was fitted to the tank with an access hatch, the ladder is from a Scale Model Scenery kit.

The stationary boiler was a white metal kit which came as a load for a wagon, repainted and a brick base added to the front. Chimney height increased significantly and a pipe leads from the steam dome through the shop wall.

A crude corrugated canopy covers the firebox and controls.

    Next, Shop 3

    Discussion always :welcome:
