Veers wrote: I hesitated to post because someone mentioned shaving. Hi P1MRC, I'm Aaron, or Veers is my common nickname. Which you may recognise as originating in The Empire Strikes Back.., so I'm a Star Wars guy if you haven't picked that up just yet. I'm also a member of the Southern Cross Garrison of the 501st Legion, the worlds definitive Dark Side costuming organisation with over 10,000 members world wide, with the SCG being based here in NSW/ACT with over 100 members currently. I'm a fan of our own 38 class locomotives, and Australian/English rail heritage in general. I haven't had a model set since Granddad passed away several years back, as he had a simple dual-track oval setup in the garage. I've got a theoretical design from my girlfriend (to include her in the hobby) that we'd love to do first, however in the long term, I'd love to do a scaled display of the Main North line, focusing on Sydney, the Hawkesbury and Newcastle. Which after chatting to Gary about it, designing it as a small set similar to the layout that was on display. could work very very well. Rather than my grand scale/grand idea design which would take way to much space and be heavily scenery focused. I think someone said short intro somewhere...
Quoted from the Competition Thread. Bingo, you would be correct Gary. And I have the photo to prove it Thanks for the welcome, I'll quote the previous post for reference as well. Veers wrote:
Hi Veers, Looks like everyone has enjoyed the exhibition. This beard thing is catching as well ...... My missus has been trying to grow one for years now. Time to hide I think. Great to have you aboard.
Hi Veers I think you may be put in charge of keeping order at future exhibitions. Good to meet up at Liverpool. Welcome aboard. Andrew
Hi Veers (your probably reading this in a cave after your scary comment) from sunny Spain. When youve recovered get your girlfriend to join as well we'd love to have more ladies on the forum. Anyway you've already given us a good intro so keep us up to date with your project there's lots of advice and encouragement available. Ian
I've got AnyRail installed, actually had this going a few years back but never did anything with it. So picked it up, laid some track, and it's quite a nice little program to use. Obviously I've barely got the basics down, but it's rather nice and the feedback it gives about corners is definitely a plus, I feel. So here is the picture that my better half, designed. XiDesign by Aaron Smith, on Flickr And here is my (2nd) attempt at slapping track down, and just seeing how the program handles. DesignTest1 by Aaron Smith, on Flickr Definitely not an actual design, but as a test. I'm quite happy with how AnyRail works.
The wiring will be the fun part of that design, with effectively 2 reverse loops, 1 at each triangle. For an excersie may be worth trying to figure out your isolated sections to prevent a short circuit. I reckon it could be done with 4 double isolated breaks. Keep it up Paul
Yea, at this stage I'm more having fun with how everything works, rather than a serious implementation. Just for the moment at least. As for wiring, that will be such fun. Other than computers, I know ziltch about electrics.
G`day Veers, to the mad house. Sounds to me like you will learn quickly all things model railway so don`t hesitate to ask about anything you`re not sure of. We probably won`t know either but no harm in asking.???? Sorry mate....couldn`t help myself.....enjoy yourself here.....it`s all about fun and model railways. http://www.clickGormo
