Hi Colin and to our humble abode. Settle in and have a good look around. Once you are comfortable with how we tick, come back and introduce yourself to the other members. We are a friendly bunch so just get stuck in and before you know it, you'll think you'd been here for yonks. I hope you enjoy your time with us on the forum. Many thanks for joining us here at Playform1. Cheers for now Toto
Hi Toto and thanks for the warm welcome. I met Paul at the Elgin Model Fair last weekend and was impressed by Victoria Road and his attitude to modeling. So after Stalking the site for a few days I decided to take the plunge so to speak. I'll get into it a little more as I go on but have a sudden urge to tidy up the workshop ( shed ) before I let anyone in. Could take a while. Have to go get some coffee and a bite now, it's still about -2 Deg C here. Kindest Regards Colin
Hi Colin, Glad to see you took the plunge. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I'll look forward to some pictures of the man cave. :avatar It's amazing how messed up they get. I hope your ears have recovered from your conversation with Paul. I usually have ear defenders on duty when we go on tour. I'm doing a bit decorating today and hope to get into my shed tomorrow. That's the plan anyway. Cheers for now. Toto
Hi Colin Great to see you have joined, another one leaning towards the dark side, we'll get these ludites over soon enough. For those that are struggling to foillow the conversation (I see Toto reaching for his foil hat) Colin and I had several discussions last weekend at the Elgin show on using Arduino's for model railway based projects. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of the conversations seeing the light of day. Welcome to the forum Paul
G'day Colin, Welcome aboard from a warm and sunny Sydney. Glad you could join us here and it seems like Paul was a great salesman selling you P1MRC ! Sounds like you have had a good look around already and as you are aware, there are plenty of great topics and layouts to read about. Enjoy your stay here and most of all, enjoy the banter. Cheers, Gary.
ianvolvo46, sorry mate I meant Ian of course . Paul did a good job Gary although I feel I may be scratching along behind him with the programming for a while .Thanks for your time last week Paul I hope I wasn't a pain. It's the first time I have met anyone as interested in the arduino series of boards as I am. Is Toto's hat made by messrs Faraday & Co by the way ? Thanks again Guys Colin
and to platform 1 Colin W from another way down under modeller. Dig into the forum and join the fun http://www.click
Tom is very knowledgeable regarding the dark side, but rather than confuse people with too technical an answer, he reffers them to me to confuse them instead . Most of my success is from lifting pieces of code from other peoples sketches, and a very rudimentary electronics knowledge, so if I can have success, anyone can. And when you read the pages in here, it will be backed up with examples Paul
Welcome to the forum Colin, not got as far as using Arduino's myself yet, but using electronics along the way myself now, and like Paul, am a MERG member. Keith.
Is this where I say a bit about me?Well it all began on 22nd Jan 1954.........Basically left school had a couple of jobs, joined the RAF as a RADAR Mechanic(electronics and mechanics ). Was posted to a station with no aircraft and no RADAR after training and began working with computers. No keyboards in those days, programming was done with octal switches, paper tape punches and even punch cards. Left the RAF after 5 years became a ski instructor, met the other half and had to get a real job .Worked for several years building and servicing metal detectors which we shipped by the thousands down under to you guys in warmer climates. Joined the NHS in 1986 as a Medical Physics Tech specialising on Renal Dialysis equipment. Retired.Job done Just as a foot note, there is a red dot on my welcome icon. What is it for? Have I transgressed already ? Perhaps to be rejected and ejected before I have even started . Regards Colin
