    Hi guys!
I've been watching Gormo's videos for a while and thought I should come and say hello! I model (mostly) OO steam big 4 era with a fair amount of poetic licence! Unfortunately owing to waiting on builders (some genuine, some conmen) to make the outhouse safe and secure my layout is currently residing in my head. I will try to upload some pics of the space that will be at my disposal.
For the moment I have a small test/programming track and I am quite happy buying second hand locos, servicing and DCC chipping them (with a varying amount of success I will admit!)and doing a small amount of landscape modelling. Thinking about adding a small canal scene on the side of my test track, we'll see what happens. I will try to add photos of that too!
    Cheers,
    Dom
PS. Ok, after a couple of false starts (using my DSLR was giving me photos too big to add, so I have had to reduce the quality of them, I don't know how they will turn out!) I think I have one here of my test track as it is at the moment (cheap download kits as buffers at either end, cheapo static grass etc). However I can't see any way of adding more than one photo per reply. Am I just being stupid?! Feel free to say yes, I normally am...

Welcome to the forum Dom, I've not found a way to post more than one pic per post either, although that's maybe 'cos I'm using an iMac rather than a PC (and I'm not that bright when it comes to computers!). Don't worry about it, just enjoy the forum.
    Keith.

Hey guys, thanks for the tutorial link to uploading photos, however it doesn't seem to want to play ball for me! Goes through to 100% whilst uploading and then just shows me a completely blank website/screen. If I click reload it proceeds to try and upload the pics again! What am I doing wrong?
    :scratchchin:

    Cheers,Dom

    Hi Dom and welcome

You may still have to resize the image as the size seems to have reduced from the previous file size limit

I did a test when the hosting was moved recently, and found that the acceptable size has reduced and if using a DSLR you may find the size even on a cropped image is too large.
On a IPhone size image I need a little more than 35% reduction a to 750 size image for successful up load or I got the blank page you described.
Great to see You getting involved best of luck with the uploadinghttp://www.click

Cheers for that, seems to have done the trick! I have no idea what kind of size these will come out now, using a new program that I haven't really played around with properly.
However, hopefully here is another pic of the test track and some of where my layout will be once the building work is done...
    Cheers,
    Dom

The pics I post are taken using my iPhone 5C. They automatically appear on my iMac, but default to Apple's "iPhoto" and I can't seem to post them directly from there (or using my iPad either!). I just 'drag-and-drop' them from iPhoto to 'My Pictures', from which I can then post directly without resizing being needed. It's simple, (for me), but then it needs to be to get my head around it! Using a digital camera often produces relatively huge file sizes because of the much better lenses used, hence the need to resize files small enough for the forum software to handle.
(Almost makes it sound like I know what I'm talking about!!!).:avatar::avatar::avatar:

That's not an 'Outhouse', Dom, that's more like a 'Warehouse'! If you're going to fill that place with layout, it'll be like having your own 'Exhibition Hall'!:giggle:

The bottom bit of your outside wall looks like traditional East Anglia to me. From the amount of time I've spent in Norfolk, I know there are quite a few older properties with big gardens and outbuildings such as yours, ideal for a layout.

Haha, yeah it is fairly sizeable. Around 6 metres by 4 metres internal dimensions. Well spotted, I am indeed in Norfolk. I know the type of houses you are talking about, I would love to be able to afford one of those! We've got a Victorian Terraced house, most of the garden is the outhouse to be honest! (A good half anyway!)
As I said my layout is currently residing in my head, but I think it will take up a fair amount of the wall on the right of the window (or the left of the last photo) and then coming underneath the window itself. I'd then like to keep the rest of the area for modelling/brewing. We shall see!
    Cheers, Dom

    Oh yes indeed.
I spent 16 years in the pub trade, the last 7 running pubs between myself and my (now) wife. I set myself a task of running a pub when I was 18 and managed it by the time I was 25. Next is a brewery. I am not going to manage that as quickly unfortunately, but it is still in the pipe-line (pun semi intended!) I'm now 32 with 2 young children, so life is a little more constrictive but there we are. I hope to be using the extra space to allow me to further my experiments with home brewing to allow me to expand at a later date. Still means waiting on builders unfortunately!
    Cheers,
    Dom

Quite a lot of "Micro- Breweries" around now Dom, and they seem pretty popular, at least in my area.

Aye, that's both a blessing and a curse to be honest. I just have to make *good* beer, which if I'm honest I am capable of doing. None the less, it will hopefully coincide with my layout coming into fruition, at which point I can do a "Beer and Trains!" open day or something... Most modellers tend to like their booze anyway!

    Cheers,

    Dom
