Just for those interested the persons pictured are Dave talking to the little fella, died of cancer 2012, and the person on the left with his back to us is Gill who is over ninety with failing eyesight and mobility problems so can no longer anticipate in our travels.
Some nice pics of a great looking US layout Norm. I would like to see more of this layout if you have more pics to offer. Jack and myself are currently building a US based shunting (switching) layout, Jay Dubyew Nth Yard : http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=632&forum_id=7 Cheers, Gary. ps. Are you travelling up to the Forrestville exhibition in March ?? I declined showing Industry Lane this year as it will be going through a small extension...
Hi Gary, sorry but that appears to be all the photos I have of Vintage Port. I thought I had more but they must have been on my previous laptop which expired but I might try resurrecting it as there is other information that I would like to access. I will not be at Forestville this year as I am waiting to go into hospital to have my leg attended to and have been told to expect to be in for a week or more and that will be followed by at least four to six weeks of physio so I am not making any plans for the first half of the year. Chris and I are hoping for an invite to Malkara for their 45th annual show and hope to take Blagdon as we took 1/2 Pint Creek last year. I still have a lot of photos in my camera which I intend to download but they are only for the past year or two.Norm.
I just search the Malkara Exhibition. Looks like a good exhibition and I may have to get in touch with the Exhibition Manager for a chat... You wouldn't happen to have any contact details ?? Cheers, Gary.
G'day Gary, sorry I don't have the contact details for Malkara but the head of the school who is a lovely lady is in charge but most of the arrangements are done by a local model club. Chris has the details and I will get them from him later in the week when I see him. Before I retired I used to work in Caberra every other week and I had conections in the area for years after so I used to go to the school direct to make arrangements. I don't know if you are aware but it is a school for physically and mentally handicapped children and the show is a modelling show with other interests on display as well. It is their biggest fundraiser for the year and we usually return any appearance monies to them as we always have a great weekend. They haven't sent out invites yet so if you do happen to go and Chris and I are there also let me know as I can book you accommodation at a motel I've used for years at favourable rates that is if you wish to.TTFN. Norm.
G'day All, things are looking up finally as hospital rang with date of admission, 8th March or possibly sooner, so can now start making provisional plans and move forward. Gary, Chris rang last night and here is the Malkara info.Gavan Bennett Mob. 0401308926 Email. gavanbennett@iinet.net.au The show is in early August. Chris said you can have Jack back. Attached files
I thought that the true believers might be interested in this photo. It is the only working model I have ever seen of the early broad gauge loco Hurricane where the boiler is carried on a separate carriage. It was made by a long time friend Peter Betts who has built quite a few unusual models all working. Attached files
Hi Gary, have found some more photos of 1/2 Pint Creek. This one is of the hidden fiddle yards under the scenery. There are two one at each end and there are two exits in the approximate middle of layout, one at the front and one at the rear. Attached files
