:welcome: to the forum from Dundee

Settle in, warm up the keyboard, pour your self a cup of liquid refreshment and jump right in (not into the cup) I meant the forum and tell us a bit about yourself and your modelling interests and adventures.

Once again welcome to the forum

    Paul

    Good Evening,
My name is Graeme, I live in Bomaderry New South Wales Australia.
Bomaderry is in an area known as the South Coast and is about 2-3 hours drive and about 3 hours by train south of Sydney.
I model in "G Scale" and have a layout running around my backyard with approx 20 Metres of track.
I previously modeled in HO scale but due to a lack of room the layout had to be in the garage where during winter it was to cold for me so I neglected it for months on end the garden railway lets me run year round when the weather allows.
I dabble a little bit with bonsai so shaping miniature trees for the railway lets me combine 2 interests.
My trains are powered by battery and I use 2.4GHz Radio Control for speed direction etc. I have an radio/electronics background so it was a logical choice to go that way plus I do not have to worry about keeping my track clean.
At present I have embarked on my first scratchbuild project making my own rolling stock in 1:20.3 scale including the bogies (six pieces under construction).
I have attached a picture of my first scratchbuilt model and outside frame boxcar.
I like to look at other peoples handy work and if I find something that I like, I may try and copy it or adapt it to my railway.

Welcome Graeme, not too many "G" scale modellers on here yet, so something different is always of interest.
    Keith.

Welcome on board Graeme, from your neighbour across the road.
I said I would put a comment on for your welcome to this site!

    Q. What do you call a decoder-equipped locomotive that no longer runs?

    A: DCCeased!

If you get your timing right you may be able to dodge him in the morning and when you get home at night again after work. Especially with jokes like that. :avatar:

The thing is, I go to work and he is retired and when he traps me in the shed there is no escape but he does make a good cuppa.
Also he is responsible for me crossing to the dark side of model railways 45mm gauge (G Scale) so he has a lot to answer for.

    G'day Graeme,

Welcome aboard from just up the road in Sydney. Great part of the world the South Coast is. Glad you have found us here and I'd guess Andrew (Sandbar) has guided you here. Plenty of great topics and layouts to sink your teeth into. I for one will be looking forward to seeing your modelling grow.
Great boxcar model you have scratchbuilt.

    Cheers, Gary.

I was going to give Graeme the nickname of "The Turtle"

That because he "Tortoise" about electronics in trains!
