Hi everyone. That would have to be the most overwhelmingly warm welcome to a forum I've ever had! I'm 25 and live in northwest Sydney. I've been out of the hobby for about 10 years as a result of leaving home after school and pursuing a career in the Army. As it was, I went to Canberra on Friday to get all my model railway gear out of storage. I've got some room and some spare dollarydoos to throw at it. It was great to chat to Gary and the crew at Liverpool on Sunday. I actually went direct from Liverpool to my local Bunnings and bought some stuff to get started immediately. My area of interest is NSW branchlines in 60's and 70's and the transition from steam to diesel. With that in mind, I'm looking at the Tumut branch line. Lots of interesting scope for train operations. I might start up a build thread. This will initially move rapidly in the baseboard construction phase as I need to get it done and in the room before the missus gets back from overseas! Looking forward to all the tips and advice. I wish I had a bit to offer in terms of expertise but I've been out of the game for a while. Nice to meet you all. Reidy
Thanks for replying Matt, that is a great introduction. You certainly sound like a man with a plan ! Whatever questions you may have, sing out and someone will be along in no time at all with an answer. I for one will be looking forward to your layout build. Enjoy ! Cheers, Gary.
Hi Reidy I've got the pop corn at the ready for the build thread, don't forget to post plenty of pictures as well. I have the tee shirt for the fast start and then it's five years later, just watch out for Gary and Chris talking you into committing to an exhibition Paul
Great start. Looking forward to seeing a track plan emerge. My favourite bit the planning. ....... Never seem to get past it though...... Cheers Toto
