G'day Mike, Welcome aboard from sunny Sydney. By the sounds of the chat you had with the boys at the exhibition, you are well and truly into the hobby. Looking forward to what you have to offer us and if there is anything you need to know, just ask. Enjoy your stay here. Cheers, Gary.
Hi folks Been in the hobby for more years than I care to count! Having just retired I was starting to build a new 00 layout in the garage. Had got the baseboards up - and then the sky fell in - or the mechanism of the 'up and over door' failed - the door jammed and I was left with the problem of trying to salvage the layout. It will take a few weeks to get the new door - and then I can discover how much damage the layout has sustained. Good to see what is going on the world. Mike
Now you have me curious Mike. Are you saying that the door came off its rails and fell onto the layout or that it just jammed open exposing the layout to the elements. Andrew
Sorry to hear that MikeP it sounds like the 'weathering' has gone to an uncomfortable level so fingers crossed for the layout. What are the early signs? Ian
Hi Mike, not good news. I hope you manage to salvage as much as possible. let us know how you get on as soon as a bit more has been exposed. best of luck.
The door came off its runners - and to get out of the door I had to try to move it. I did - but in the process it met the baseboard and I fear some damage has been sustained. The doorway is still open to the elements. I've taken off the other baseboard [where the control feed it comes in] and once I get the new door I will get the boards reconnected and will see what the damage is. The track came right up to the edge of the board on two platforms and I fear some of the track adjacent to the edge has suffered damage. Once I can get the boards reconnected I'll know how much repair work needs doing. Cheers Mike
Hi Mike, sorry to hear of that. lets hope its not too bad. A character building set back. I think thats the polite way of describing it ......... I can think of others. fingers crossed. cheers toto
