Thank you all for your dad jokes and welcome. Will post more details about myself in the new members section. I live in Victoria Australia.
Well it appears this is the section I need. Not very bright am I. Lol. I was searching though my shed about a year ago, and came across a train set I bought secondhand when I was about 16. Brought it out in the daylight learned on you tube, how to service it. And so began my re interest in toy trains. Since the I have been buying secondhand locos and track off of EBay. Which is waiting for a shed to be erected, so I can start my layout. I found this forum though you tube, watching Gormos Shed. I am also into collecting Vinyl records, hence the user name. Fantastic info on this forum, so thanks to everyone who contributes. 🤓
Great ....... another shed dweller. I'm sure Gormo will be pleased that he has yet another viewer. Meanwhile, nothing stopping you working out your trackplan for your layout when it gets the green light. Down load a demo copy of the Anyrail free software and that will give you somewhere to start. I first started my layout thread by discussing the planning stages gets. It helps build a picture of what you want before you start laying track down. What size shed are you thinking of getting ? What era are you thinking of ? This, to me, is the most exciting stage. Throw some ideas and track plans up for the members to see. They will be only be too happy to offer their opinions and advice if it's asked for. Of course, it's always your layout so Rule 1 applies. I'll look forward to finding out more and hopefully bring able to contribute some ideas for you. Cheers for now Toto
Toto forgot to define Rule No.1 Rule 1 - It's your layout, what you say goes. Rule 2 any queries see rule 1 As Toto said have a go at the planning stage. Also as a first layout consider building a small test track or plank, you will learn a lot and will have to use 90% of the skills required on a small quick to finish layout - an Inglenook in HO / OO can be built in under 4ft (1.2m). Once again welcome to the forum Paul
