Well Paul, All you need now is a bed and a fridge and you`re all set up. No need for a loo because, as we say here, " it`s a big country "..... Gormo
You could rent it out to skilled modellers only with the proviso that they must complete a task set by you. You could be turning out a loco a week Paul......... Gormo
Honestly Gormo all I wanted was a warm, dry and functional space with plenty of natural light to work in after I wound my business up, priority for me is good storage, clean environment, compact work station and somewhere folk can come visit and feel comfortable, gone are the days when the workshop was a workshop full of tools, paint and offcuts of everything. I intend to focus on enjoying the modeling projects once the studio is complete and not worrying about forgetting where something got put. So with luck here is to happy days and sharing something meaningful with folk.
Thanks Jim, its been a big but neccessary job and done at the expense of making models, not quite complete yet but I can see light at the end of the tunnel now.
Yes, these are big jobs, but when I completed fitting out my shed it made retirement even more of a pleasure by having a dedicated place for modelling pleasure whilst maintaining domestic harmony Jim
Quite agree Jim, I can share the studio with my partner Lis who is creative too, she has a dedicated painting shed next to the studio but she also likes the making process as well... and she also enjoys the idea of making model trees too. So we can both work in the space which is good.
Last bit of plaster repair now complete and the rewire is signed off complete... job in the morning is to grout the ceramic floor tiles now dirt debris has been hoovered out and floor washed down. Once the grouting has dried I shall fit the skirtings and start building the long storage cupboard which will also act as a worktop to put models being worked on.
The new studio refurb update; ceiling is now repainted in matte white emulsion and the beams have been cleaned down and coated with Osma Plus Door Oil, which gives a nice waxy lustre... here are a couple of pictures. Next job is to construct the long storage cupboard and fit skirtings... having now retired in business from mainstream make over refurb work I still have the skills and now have time to do my own stuff.
Nice, you do realse you could fit an elevated oval of track in the loft area, purely for running in purposes of course. Paul
That has not gone unthought of however as you may well remember from a previous visitation there may be some level of resistance in that happening... classic coment last night "oh I'm going to be cold at my end of the studio"... my reply " well you wouldn't listen when it was suggested the heater be located centrally and its too late now"
That sounds like an initial planning request for live steam from the other half - heat redistribution and all that stuff.
