No more dangerous than the various fluxes, paints, thinners and glues you have around, but needs to be used correctly. Paul
Clear casting resin is only harmful if you don't ventilate properly, in some instances you can see the rising vapours being given off, otherwise following instructions and doing thin pours is the safest way. If the pour is a deep one undertaken too quickly the resin will suddenly split apart making a loud cracking sound as the temperature at curing point can actually become very hot, the stuff cures from the inside outwards. But anyway you did really good Paul because the finish is amazing just like crystal clear water... you should cast a few salmon in with the next pour then Toto can present you with the Platform1MRC Salmon King Award.
As you have the opportunity of a second pour, ideal time to add detritus, like prams, bikes, tires, sewages out pour brown ribbon, swans, boats, fish half in and half out (being caught by fisherman) or caber
Second pour done on Tuesday (I think), and the final small amount done this morning for the top section. Thought about shopping trolleys etc, but the nearest Super market would be around 60 miles and between 30 and 60 years away . This is Scotland too much rain for debry to stay, we wash it down river to England . When the water fall is done I will try and model a couple of salmon leaping the falls, down side of this means no fishing (out of season) although the Gillie could be hunting for poachers - a real blood sport. I've taken some pics, as they are in the shed, there is only one florescent tube and I didn't want to use flash, they may be a little shacky. First batch Paul
Second batch Been out and bought 3mm ply for the scenic board fronts, 12mm mdf for the traverser base, and 9mm ply for the traverser sides, guess what I'll be working on next Paul
The water scene looks great Paul, well done ! When will the distillery open on the banks of the river ?? Cheers, Gary.
There is to be a connecting board between Luib Bridge and Another bridge, so maybe a distillery is an option, may have to do some site visits, just hope sampling the wares doesn't effect the research and note taking too much Just need to see if the resing has hardened enough to move the baseboard, so I can get the table saw out to cut up the wood for the traverser bases. Paul
A little bit of an update - only 1 week and a day to go - sounds better than only 8 days left, especially when I'm working all this weekend Some of the latest pics have appeared on the Toto's Traverser thread, but here they come again. Toto's DMU having a test run Just painted the outer edge black - it will get plywood, but not before the exhibition. Now back to working on the traverser Paul
Cheers Guys, tonights work is on the traverser controller The gaps were marked out last night before going to bed, and now time for assembly - but thats another thread
A goat (for Scotland substitute Haggis) having a drink down by the river would add to the scene. Ian vt
