Hi Andrew. That is a great backscene. Tell us all about it mate. Really lovely ambience. - ( I did French 5 years at school _ waste of time) lol. Thanks for posting BTW what's that green dropside lorry. Make n model please ...been looking around for something similar. Have a look at my pics. You will see what I mean Cheers mate MY WAY I DID IT
Thanks for the compliments. Yes its a Coopercraft whatever I had in a drawer. I thought the cast models were nicer, but.... I could assemble the Coopercraft with a side down .I thought about cutting a side off a cast kit and though yea, maybe, nah! I for one would not like to tote a hundredweight sack of coal over a high side, with the side down I could have made it. The backscene is from ID Scenics. Nice as you can see but it has gone very wrinkly in our wet West Australian winter. They now do them in vinyl for a few bob more and if I was doing another I'd try that.
OK the quick reply box is bit like twitter, eh? The secret to blending in the foreground is very easy. Firstly I cut an inch or two off the bottom of the backscene to get the skyline/horizon at the height I wanted. This depends on layout height and how you want it to look. Secondly I chose my main static grass colours to match the photo, They don't match too well but I got away with it. Thirdly, match up tree heights and colours to be consistent with the backscene. And that pretty much covers its I think. Cheers Andrew
We have a weiner! Reckon Jakesdad13 nailed it Coopercraft AEC MONARCH DROPSIDE. Next.... New weekly competition. .. just for giggles ... Identify the model or thing... Win the most auspicious title of . ... WEINER OF THE WEEK Any takers ?
That could be a goer. Sounds like a bit of fun. We like weiners here see what the rest fink. Maybe it could be incorporated into Gary's name the layout on the current footbridge format. Cheers Toto
Hello boys n girls. I am a bit busy working 6 days this week. I check the site frequently. Try to keep myself informed. I'm just admiring Dave Howorth on You tube . I cast to the telly from my phone. I use the now TV you tube app. It's pretty useful. I've seen him before... but not for a while.cos I've got a loft room to expand into in few weeks.and he's doing that. His layout look's good when it's done. He's retired but I'm just tired. I wonder where you " SENIOR 's " find the energy. Just a musing anyway. To let you know I'm still alive and kicking. My Way.
You enjoy your work now. I've got about another twenty years to g if we get to retire at 70. What a thought. Cheers Toto
