Very nice Kimbo. Now if you could get Steve to install one of those magic smoke generators.... Cheers, Gary.
Well as luck would have it, I may be in Perth in the next week or so. I would certainly be more than happy to pop down to Lord Street and install the Magic Smoke Generator for you. Of course the normal fee would apply, less 10% as you are becoming a regular customer. Please choose from the video which one you would like installed. You will notice the smoke colour and amount varies with the type installed. Nb cost may vary. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8K4hzFkYca8 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pv_cGG56QA4 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TXkPXOpeyX4 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5omgoWuXl6c
Well Kim nice to see the Beast in action and riding the cambered track smoothly If your going for one of Steve' s smoke contributions PICKthe third one down :- at least it's a bit more tune full
Thanks lads, and you Steve for the generous offer....again Another tail chasing testing session this morning. Getting very busy on the extension !!!
That is such a great setup now. It has really grown from it's humble beginnings. From Lord Street to Lord of the Manor.
Not so sure of the name 'Lord of the Manor' considering there is a rather large loop. Perhaps the name 'Lord of the Ring', or better still, 'Gandalf' maybe more appropriate... Cheers, Gary.
Gary, I'm not calling my layout Gandolf or Lord of the rings The incline has already been named after a very well know incline......mine will be called the "Likely Incline"
today's job to make an embankment between the two main running lines and the "Likely Incline", which i want to eventually grass over. So as I had some fly screen mesh left over from a job I decided to staple this in sections between the two boards...... difficult to see but i've stapled it in such away that the mesh ends up level with the bottom of the 9mm ply, which means there will be at least a thickness of 9mm foam. This picture shows it a bit better so out with the expanded foam gun, and time to play as Ive done in the past I run a bead around the edges first then fill in You don't need much as it will expand three times in size, if you have never tried this method before, I would suggest covering your track work, first just in case. viewed from where the bridges allow access to the "Inner Circle" you can see the height difference So after a nice glass of red, or two........ add 3kg to see how well it stands up. good enough for me. out with the blades, saws and time to have some more fun, no need for a hot wire cutter here, as its easy to cut with an old wood saw and a hack saw for fine tuning. 5-10 mins later... bit of a clean up and job done. Now i would like to use teddy bear fur or fake fur to grass this area....any one know a good supplier? KIM
Coming on great guns,What was in the Broome water mate ?You might try Textile Traders for material required for grass area RALPH
Kim, try Spotlight stores for from this site - I have seen it in use http://thrumlington.blogspot.com.au/search/label/GWR Sunday, 11 May 2014 The other tunnel gets attention! The landscape was then covered with polar fleece, the material pullovers or sweaters are made from. One side of the material is quite short shaven, the other has a longer "furry" look to it, which is the side I used to show. Its all glued down with PVA glue. Being a stretchy material it will pull over all types of undulating surfaces. Its then trimmed with a small pair of curved scissors along the profile edge.
Nice link Sol. Well I did as Sol said and went to spotlight. Never realised how expensive fake fur is over here.....managed to find a small piece with a fault line in it which they sold me at a reduced price, it's just over 470mm wide and approx 1.2 m long so cut down the middle should give me enough.....down side is it's a loverly shade of ........pink I'm going to test a small section today with paint and a fabric dye to see which works best...pictures later. Kim
I typed polar fleece into the Spotlight Search box and got lotsa answers https://www.spotlightstores.com/search?text=polar+fleece&x=19&y=15
Hi Sol, yes looked at those when I was in there. For oo gauge I recon it would be good but for o gauge to me it didn't look like the effect I want to create as it's looks more like clumped grass as apposed to long tall grass....
A quick test with some Brunswick green spray paint gives this as the result:- result, but I will vary the length of the fur and add flowers and lighter / darker clumps to break it all up. Time to start gluing it down.
HI KImbo , if it is any help I have seen used the matting put in hanging baskets - for plants , or car sound deadening ,mat in the dash board area ( breakers yard if you have them ,where you are - should be very cheep as they are scrap regards Dave
