Lots of ground cover which I will create some nice garden beds with and flowers in the fields. The Purple makes great thistles while the whites and yellows make nice daisies. Attached files
Steve, please can you enlighten me as to what rubberised horse hair is and where I can buy it in Oz? I am sure I desparately need some Thanks Andrew
Andrew I have some rubberised horsehair. It is in pads sized 6in by 4in and 1in thick.I bought it in UK. As far as I know its not available in Oz, or it was when I wanted to buy it some years ago.I will look up the chap who supplied me with it . Good to see you on the forum. Regards, Roger Aka pertyowl
Coming to this thread at little late on ... back on 27th July StevePower wrote in part : Having had this problem myself, I find that testing the model glue on both parts to see which it best reacts with, then using PVA on the other will often work - usually needs clamping overnight, and avoids the issues with superglue. Well I was able to direct my attention at the layout this afternoon, after months of doing nothing on it. I kicked off by planting trees , grass, flowers etc on the small removable section that i made a few weeks ago. I've planted about twenty of the seamoss trees that I made last month, and I have to say they look even better once planted. The static grass and flowers are Mini Natur products and I've used some Woodlands Scenics yellow flower mat for some ground cover. The starting point: Attached files
The other job I was able to complete tonight was fitting to station lamps to the branchline platform.I have had the lamps for ages but like so many thing just didn't get around to fitting them. But now it is done.
Excellent. The scenics are terrific and the lights give the scene another dimension altogether. Very nice.
The platforms are looking very plain and i am unsure of what i should put on the top of them. Sand, pavers...... Any suggestions would be appreciated.
With the Q1 finished and my new Class08 Shunter from Hattons safely here and now sound chipped I had a few spare hours so have put red lamps on three of my brake vans. I will now need to do the Parcel vans as well. I've used DCC Concepts pickup springs a 30 Ohm resistor , red nano led and Hornby lamp with a small hole for the led wires to pass through. The wheels are all isolated by the plastic sleeve that Hornby use to fit the wheels onto so it is a very easy job. I have some flicker free units to fit into the wagons as well, but will need to do those at a later date as I am a bit time poor at the moment, finding myself at work a little too much.
Works in progress. New ballasting and sand to be laid in the goods yard. Now that the ash has been pulled up today I can lay new sand and Ballast this week. Thanks to my little helper after School.
Kimbo wrote: Well when I put the ash down last year I thought it would be quite good, but it is very white and under the led lights it almost glows. It's been a job I have wanted to do for a while but needed to find the time. This took me about an hour and a half. The time was more in allowing the water to soak into it and soften the PVA glue. Once that had happened a scraper was all that was required to lift it off the baseboard. I removed the tracks and gave them a blast under the hose then allowed them to dry in the sun and wind before reattaching the droppers and connecting the track back up. I think that the paving sand will look much better than the ash once I've laid it down. I will tint it with some black cement oxide colouring. I'd like it to be more like Lord St and less like the North Pole.
