While I was on a mission and after doing all the tidying up from the tree making I created a foam and plaster base for the new forest to stand upon. As I mentioned earlier, the section where it will go is hard to reach so have decided to build it off the board then place it on. I could have really done with a foam cutter today as the knife just makes such a mess, unless you are creating G scale snow. I mixed burnt Umber Acrylic paint in with the plaster so that if it chips it is an earthy colour not a stark white. It looks like a nice chocolate cake, albeit a strange shape.
And the final task for the day was putting the Station Totem signs onto the Platforms. I had painted them months ago, but like so many things they got forgotten and left sitting on the bench. I made up a little template with some 3mm ply so that all I had to do was slide the template to where I wanted the holes and then drill down a few mm. I used electrical tape wrapped around the drill bit to act as a depth gauge. A few minutes later and I was done. Note to self..... I think the platform needs some more lamps. Add that to the list.

Looks like you have been busy in the garden Steve ! The layout will certainly be spouting in time for Spring ! I recall many years ago where I walked into an old mates back yard and he had very similar looking trees hanging from a line.. I can clearly say that he wasn't into model railways, more into whacky tobaccy... Cheers, Gary.
I forgot to put a post up the other day about the large pile of little people that I had painted. I have taken the time to cut all the bases off each and every one of them. Now I need to start placing them back onto the layout in their various postions and cameos. If things go well I will start auditioning for those positions this week. If things don't go well they will stay in the container for months and months.
How are you going to fix them to the layout Steve ?? I drill up through one foot/leg and insert a small length of brass wire, then drill a hole in the scenery and position the figure/s. I do this with my vehicles as well if I am to exhibit the particular layout. This stops little fingers and big fingers I might add from knocking them out of position. Cheers, Gary.
Yes I'd thought about something like that Gary. I was thinking about using a fine sewing pin as they would be cheap to buy in bulk I figured. https://www.spotlightstores.com/sewing-fabrics/haberdashery/pins/c/pins
I tried the sewing pins early in the peace and found that they were too big in diameter, especially if you are using the Dapol/Airfix figures. Cheers, Gary.
