I really wish this layout was seen more. After all your efforts. :-(

I must make more of an effort to get over!

Today saw the roof panels sweated into place after the laborious rivet embossing process, I've fitted the Anycubic resin roof vents but the windshield and cab roof dome are just positioned for show, these will be replaced by Dundee Paul's later examples. Once I've finished dressing the bodyshell it can be primed ready and I'll focus attention back onto the mainframes.

One further job I need to do on this loco is to cut out the cantail section for the three filter vents as per the early ones... 5310 has this feature and now the body is fixed I can cut away without fear of damage near the radiator side aperture intake weak spot.

    Hi Paul
If not aware you may want to look at http://www.7mmlocomotives.co.uk/ go to the galleries page . If you want to go for glass windows have a look on one of the Class 47 galleries (I think the one with the most pictures ) and the Warship gallery . These builds should spare you on and some thing to aim for .

Had some photos kindly sent from Terry Pickthall at the Llangollen Diesel group.

    Mainly covering the bogies.

Hope these are of use? Seems some great detail in here!

    Brilliant pics, thanks Andy

Yorkie - just like one o the famous all time sayings - the bits are in the post - you should have received them either today or tomorrow.

So what else have I been doing, well, when Toto gets to start making these kits up for folks, he will need to pre-form the body, so I have been designing a mandrel / former for him to use.

As this is too big for either of my 3D printers I've had to split it into two parts.

Right hand side looks like this

    upload_2019-3-4_23-22-10.png

The six raised dowels align with the roof vents, the left hand side will have the main fan for alignment.

Very rough print 2 outer layers, 10% infill and print speed of 60 / 90 completed in 6 hours, and tended to fall apart as I prised it off the print bed - that was expected, but the 6 pins aligned perfectly with the preformed body suppled by Steve for the prototype.

Just got to do the left hand side now.

Great detail shots there Andy, please convey thanks to Terry for his support. These pictures contain the detail I need for the display model .

The package arrived safely today so thank you again Paul, basically I've spent this evening parting items from the scaffolds and arranging them on circular templates to see what will go where on the mould plates... quite a few will be needed and the cab parts and fuel tanks will have to go on 9 inch plates.

What I have done with the etches is add in some 1/2 lines on the reverse side of the cantrail curve to aid the forming and also to the tight curve on the cab body side. You'll see these when you get them.

That should ease the forming procedure Steve. Which is good as I could see me putting myself out of business just trying to get that right. :avatar:

indeed former looks the business though. In time honoured tradition I have his next bit of homework set though. :avatar: The formers for those bogie wraps. ...... not so easy. We reckon ply formers but don't know if disposable resin ones would work or if you would not get enough time with the iron before they would self destruct.

    Any lightbulb moments ?

    Steve,

Just a friendly prod ......... lost wax castings. When you get the chance kind Sir. I think most elements will be covered once I get my head round what I'm doing with these. Oh ..... and I will be looking into axle bushes as well. No rest for the wicked.

    Cheers

    Toto

Had some rough quotes for boxes ......... ouch. A rethink needed there. Apart from the price, one of the main issues is the quantity I need to order in gives a space / storage issue. :(

Great Steve... I did not the half etch fold guilds in the PDF, this will work well as the same sort of lines existed on the BR1 tender sides for the Britannia kit I got from Seven Models. I had no issues getting the correct profile.
