A spin off from the thread for servo controllers, came the idea of having a DCC accessory bus on a DC layout, to make the control of points and other accessories using only two wires.

Using the likes of JMRI, the trackplan can be put on the screen allowing control of the layout from the computer or mobile phones or tablets. Train control would still be by conventional DC.

Searching the net I found DCC++ an arduino based DCC command station, which also has JMRI compatibility.

As it is a NMRA compliant system, any DCC accessory decoder can be attached to the bus, to operate points motors (depending on decoder type, solenoid, servo and slow action motors -e.g. Tortoise), or any other accessories.

I think its a good idea.
Anyone who does not want to chip their loco's or invest in a DCC controller can still have the advantage of digital control for their accessories. A great half way house. This could be popular I think.
    cheers
