Then some scenic 'muck' etc (want the aged/neglected look from the end of the steam era) Attached files
Needs something a bit more grungey - inner city , maybe even in black and white and not too sharp. Paul
Continuing on from the Scalescenes build of a coal office/staithes; I now intend to build the Lcut version with Scalescenes/beer mat wrap. Apart from this I only have the platform to build for the second half of my 'plonk' which I'll show at a later date .... sorry ...? ... beer mat wrap? Watch this space! ... Attached files
Windows and door fitted, a note here; the windows are meant to be fitted snuggly into their holes bit I always fit them to the back so as to give a deeper sill and add a bit more dimension to the model, ditto the door which I leave in the open position. Attached files
G`day Ian, Nicely, Nicely done Sir, Can I ask, your method with the Scalescenes paper.?? Do you apply the paper and trim to shape once the glue is dry or do you cut the paper to shape and then glue it on to the model. I am currently considering this approach for a Metcalfe model and any tips would be appreciated. http://www.clickGormo
G'devening Gormo first I lay the half assembled walls on the paper and cut around them. I then put pva on the walls before gluing the paper on to them, any trimming or cutting out of windows/doors can be done at this stage before full assembly. Have whats left of a good day Ian http://www.click Ps had to edit the gobbledegook into something resembling literacy!
Thanks Ian, Paul has replied to my question on his thread as well but it`s interesting to hear your methods. All input gratefully received at this early stage. I have had a look at the kit this afternoon to assess the problems I may face. They are considerable but not unsurmountable. The main issue is that Metcalfe kits quite often have building modules that pop out and bend into one complete box if you like. No problem .......however if you lay the module out flat and glue brick paper to it....when you bend the module into shape the paper can`t stretch around the four bends.........in other words back to the drawing board. So the method I think?????....will work is dividing the modules up into sections that will accept the paper possibly only using one bend. When the sections are papered they can be glued back into the module.......that`s the theory anyway.??? http://www.clickGormo
Quite right Gormo I tend to do each half at a time allowing a small amount of extra length to compensate for the bends. Then if that doesn't work I drink then I don't care... simplessss Ian
