    Well,
packed that in for the night. one step forward, two steps back. I will not be defeated though. These are great kits ...... its the modeler or " wanabee modeler ". I have learned a few valueable lessons in constructing this kit. A couple of them being ....... go nowhere near it with whitemetal until ALL the brass is complete.
The instructions may suggest different, not knocking the instructions, the kit or the manufacturer. they are all fine . I would recommend that you use the instructions as a guideline as there are a couple of things I would change but might not suit everyone.
the first I mentioned ..... the white metal ..... save it until last. The next one being the buffers ...... solder them in place as you form the buffer stop. You will find the soldering ( access ) much easier. Jim may have suggested this ( can't mind ).
This is a learning victim for me but It will be completed. I am determined not to let it beat me. I did warn you that I was green.
Another thing that could be done earlier is to solder the reinforcement bars down the side of where the floor supports go as soon as you have folded the side bars over. This would be done so much easier this way ( again access ).
So ...... I've walked away from it for now as frustration was high. I had such a good run at the initial build but have been pole axed by the detail bits.
Please persevere with the build as it will get there. its just gonna be at my usual ham fisted pace.
    I'll be back
    Toto.

An excellent learning curve in pictures and text. Good to know some of the intricacies of building a kit. I'm sure this will be a lesson learned for all the beginners out there !

    Cheers, Gary.

Your getting there Toto. I seem to remember soldering the buffers up on the beam right at the start of my Lowmac build. Good learning curve, the next one will be much easier.

    Hi Tom,
Going direct to markit's won't give you improved service in my experience (unless he has improved since I moved to 7mm).
You must have been really unlucky with Roxey because I have never had any issue with Dave or ordering from him.
You won't find Markits at Telford because he mainly supplies 4mm his 7mm range seems to be supplied mainly by Roxey and Alan Gibson.
