Just got a message from the guy selling the Canon motor - he has just listed the Canon 1833 motors for 2 for £20, and offered me the upgrade for the difference in price. Kerching .....

Are these motors a suitable substitute for the now "no longer available when stocks run out" Mashima motor??
    Keith.

    Hi Keith,

I'm sure these Cannon motors are being quoted as a direct alternative in certain places. I'd need to search for the particular sites but I'm sure you'd come across examples pretty quickly as you search out various suppliers.

If I find one of the references, I post it up.

    Cheers

    Toto

    Hi Keith

They only have a shaft at one end of the motor, not both like the Mashima 1833, but mounting holes etc are the same.

As Paul says these are an excellent alternative to the Mashima motor, the only thing is they cannot be fitted with a flywheel. I have read elsewhere that they are considered as superior!
    Anyhow I've ordered a pair, at that price it's a bit of a no-brainer!

    Cheer's, Pete.
