    Hi Keith,

I am getting the hang of it now. Even , to an extent, the dreaded white metal although there are still a few casualties along the way. Much more confident though and getting acceptable results ( for someone of my experience ) hopefully things will go from strength to strength .... now ..... wheres that soldering iron. :avatar:

    Cheers for now

Looking good Tom. You've inspired me.

I like the unusual, and thought one of these would look great behind my Peckett. Nobody seems to do them in 4mm so I'm going to convert an unwanted coal truck.

Will post pictures (if I don't make a pigs ear of it.)

    Cheers Paul,

It should be more or less complete by tomorrow. Then I think it will be the twin tank kit although I had thought of concentrating on the maintainence rake I spoke of a while back.

Twin bolsters, crane, lowfit etc etc. Also once getting a few wagons completed for the maintsinence train, a small loco. Maybe Nellie, the Y7 or one of the Ramsbottoms.I'll see what takes my fancy when the time comes. My mind changes all the time ....... too much choice maybe .... :avatar: not a bad problem to have .:avatar:

    Cheers for now

More changes of direction than a weather vane in tornado :avatar:

I like the idea of the maint train - it gives a goal to aim at, and can easily form into a nice static diarama on a shelf to display it and as an incentive to complete.

    Thanks Pete.

I'm hoping to finish it later today. It's been a great kit to build. I'd recommend it to anyone.

enter stage right my " very near " caliper to get the correct size of the bearing .....

and according to this it is 2.54 mm

and with the aid of my newest toy .... erm .... I mean tool .......

its job done and soldered into place .....

next the brakes and the hand rails.

    A very handy tool .

I have now done the brake gear and the handrails.

same on both sides ..... and .....

a slightly better shot of the hand rail.

now .... waiting for a replacement cast for my dumb buffer from Jim then will finish off. Still got the coupling hook to do.

    thats it for now.

hope you have enjoyed so far ..... I have ..:tophat:

Dumb buffer arrived from Jim ...... many thanks .....

and on it went .... along with the wee shelfy thing that was still to go on .....

Still have the side runner board and the coupling hook plate and couplings. these are little fill in jobs for when I need a welcome distraction from another build ( when I'm pulling my hair out ) which is quite often.

    cheers

No chain added just yet and side foot plates still to go prior to a final clean up and the primer coat going on ....

I'll be looking out a bit sponge to bring the coal bunker up to height, dyed in a suitable black wash. Then find some coal to top it up. Jim gives a selection of bits and Bob's as well. Buckets and shovels. Just require painting.

I'll maybe perform the shunters out boards and have them at the ready to install after the final scrub has been done.

This could ride behind my little Ramsbottom 0-4-0 until Nellie or my Y7 is completed. So many options. :avatar:

    Cheers
