Now to add the securing clips and then start track laying after removing the buffer stops. This new board will continue off in to the distance later that will become non scenic, this board may be a scenic break and feature a bridge and either be an extension of the loop or feature a single slip and turn the loop in to a double track section with a connection to the road next to the 07. I am yet to decide.
Could you get away with something as simple as this ?? The 'team track' is where you store the loaded train waiting for departure. Cheers, Gary.
Yeah but no, it’s based on a prototype, so I have an idea what I’d like to do, but it’s if it fits etc.. Nice idea though.
This morning whilst my son was operating the layout he knocked some railing over. There really was no where for it to sit on the scenery I had made some 15 or more years ago. so the road was closed by the local police and the JCB moved in to start rebuilding the embankment. The Network Rail land rover turned up as they were planning on a track possession whilst the road was closed. There was some new track work planned. So after a few days clearing back the embankment for some other work to be done, they were ready for new spoil to be brought in to rebuild. So with the all important cup of tea and muffin, the new embankment was started. And after P-way had been and installed the point to increase the siding capacity in the yard (still awaiting some final adjustment and trimming here) were ready to shape the embankment (once the glue has dried). More another day.
I do hope you are not sending poor Alex the repair bill for all this civil engineering work Mr S, great work there and a happy accident... these things always turn out good in the end.
If its plaster bandage .... you'll get it online cheap enough. I'm sure you'll also get plaster of Paris as well. Toto
Just pop round to Wickes and get hold of a bag of their powder form "Plaster coving adhesive" Andy. It's just like Plaster of Paris but takes a bit longer to set so gives you more time to get it how you want. It's what I've used for quite a while now. Keith.
Was this inspired by a fairly recent incident near Loughborough? Like it, https://www.constructionnews.co.uk/...idge-collapse-causes-travel-chaos-02-08-2016/
I’ve finally got around today to “icing the cake”.. mixed up some plaster (far too much!) and slapped it on. Bit of smoothing and oddly in 10 mins it was dry- in a cold loft??!! From the fiddle yard side. well, it’s better than it was. Have some nice brown umber paint to go on then grass.. Must build the static grass applicator.
just to follow on, here was how it progressed. Still not very far. That’s the problem with doing this, dads and looking at some O gauge and working on 3D prints for Yorkie. Nearest line will become the circular loop one day (for constant running.) the 3 goes to 2 at the single slip, which will be a loop in to a single line. That will run parallel with the circular back to the fiddle yard.
Been and done some painting this evening. ive sadly realised I’ve made a huge mistake in that the side nearest the wing wall is still too vertical but, this could be rocky. Never mind, it’s not really on a viewing side, so I won’t worry about it too much. I’ll look at grassing over the next few days.
No way Andy, that ain't good enough. You will have to rip the whole layout up and start again ! Cheers, Gary.
Yeah... er.. no. Not this time. I’ve come to the conclusion that there is something not right about either an angle or length of the wing walls as having looked at them for my dads bridge, it just leaves it all very steep! I’m just hoping it won’t be as evident when grassed.
I think I’ve worked out why the model is wrong. The side walls that come with the kit just are not long enough. I’ve marked out in white what length comes with the kit. And if it’s visible, in red the length they really need to give a shallow enough embankment. It’s a bit like the viaduct kit I did. They simply stop too soon. As can be seen in the bridge if done for my dad, the sides extend further (as I used the long sheets that should fit under the deck parallel to the track for the sides. It does result in it being more a farm type bridge, but not to worry... although I’m debating with this one going outside if you actually fit the side walls as... what do I make the embankment from when it’s out in all aliments? (I have an idea for grass using the insides of hanging basket liners painted green) oh well.. time to grass the indoors. Can’t do the outdoors as can’t visit my dad.
