    G`day Andy,
You are getting a good feeling of depth happening there on the layout with the way the scenery is meeting the background.......:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Rush hour at Overtoun, Class 20 backing wagons into the coal siding while a Glasgow bound 37 takes the avoiding line as Class 37 "Great Eastern" sits at platform 2.

Been working on this section of the layout, careful blending the backscene with the foreground.

You have achieved a great result blending the 3D foreground with the 2D backscene. It is never easy, but this looks great !

    Cheers, Gary.

I have been working on a hotel for the station area on the layout, so in keeping with my Scottish theme I have based it on the Hotel at Crianlarich.

Two conservatories and entrance porch added, building basic structure complete. Making a start on the roof...

Out of pure nosieness, how did you come by your sizes for the building as proportion wise, you seem to have got it bang on... most impressive

    Thanks.
For the length and width of the building I used the measuring tool in Google earth, I find it measures pretty close to the actual measurement.
I assumed the entrance doors are 8 foot tall and 3 foot wide (8 foot as it is a comercial building), for the windows I assumed they were about 3-4 feet wide and 5-6 feet tall as they are sash windows.
For the height of the building being old I assumed 10 foot ceiling on the ground floor and 8 foot ceilings on the upper floors adding 1 foot between floors.

So what is it about that hotel that makes it look so Scottish, apart from the name of course.

The style of building, windows and paint job. Plus it is based on an actual highland hotel.

I’ve stayed in hotels like that and they can only be in Scotland.
