Some useful info on the build can be found here Paul. Mine is still waiting for me to put the roof on. http://p1mrc.com/p1mrc/view_topic.php?id=816&forum_id=51
Probably not mate....... But if that is your occupation you would get pretty good at it and fast too.!!!!! http://www.clickGormo
So far so good Paul. I think Bittern's thread will be valuable as well as your's when I start my own build.... Cheers, Gary.
Not much done - visitors (my daughter) most of the night - must be warmer here than her flat Working on the hand rails for the doorway Instructions say to use the 0.7mm rod - time for the verynear gauge - 0.45, 0.7 and 0.95 mm rod included. I used a reversed peg as a clamp to help hold the wire in place. One down 3 to go. Paul
And the rest Next up is the spectacles on to the cab rear and the rivets Tomorrow I will solder the cab rear in place - but as a test I must admit I'm enjoying this Paul
Cheers Guys A little more progress this evening - first up the cab back was soldered into place Next feeling a little confident I fitted the bead along the cab side Just got to do the other side, but as I am using some Legless Jester ale to stop my mouth drying out, I'll wait until the morning before doing the other side. But in the mean time I'm test fitting the cab floor, bunker front and boiler back end Paul
Got a little carried away and forgot to take photos as I was working Fitted the other bead around the tank, and embossed the rivets and assembled the cab front with spectacles, and in all the excitement fitted the cab front in place. Not supposed to happen until later Then got brave and attempted the whitemetal this should have been done before the cab front. Found the 100C solder and my Carrs flux - nuts it Green not Red , got it to work tho' Soldered the cast reversing lever to the floor, then fixed the bunker and floor assemblies in place - would have been easier if some numpty hadn't soldered the cab front in the way. Then went slightly off piste again and fitted the tank inner sections. Getting back to the correct order of things time to fit the bunker rear, this needs forming into the correct shape. I've ordered up a couple of sets of Slater Plunger pick ups for this loco and the P class 0-6-0T. Found the data sheet for the Canon DN22-H23NTB online, M2 thread, so I ordered up some M2 x 3mm long screws (actually supposed to be for computers) approx £5 for 50 from Amazon so arrived today. Time to cook the tea for the boss - got to get them brownie points in the bank Paul
Taking great shape Paul. How easy will it be painting the inside of the cab though. Looks a bit tight.
It's a cracking nice build you have going on there Paul, I've looked at this kit many times before in the past and not really noticed how much charm it has to offer. I bet this is one engine that will take pride of place on the layout. I'm following your thread with much interest Paul. Cheers dudehttp://www.click for the pic's too. York Paul
Spray the inner walls first ( cream ) followed by the floor boards ( browny blacky stuff ) then the head wall ........
