So I thought I'd have a change from building models to building circuit boards, so made a start on the first MERG 'District Cut Out kits, just over a 'tenner', unfortunately only available to MERG members. This is what comes in the kit, together with 6 pages of construction/testing/setup instructions, not difficult if you can solder.

So a steady hour or so slaving over a hot soldering iron produces this.

Other side looks tidy enough. There are a series of voltage tests needed before inserting the chips into their respective sockets, all tested out ok so chips fitted ready, just need a layout to fit it to now! I'll build the 2nd one soon then they'll be ready when I make a start on the layout build next Spring. It's settable at either 1.5 or 3 amps cutout and I'll just have the layout split into 2 area's, which should be enough.
