As per the advice of some of the really helpful folk on this forum, I thought I'd give one of the free Scalescenes kit a whirl. I decided to build the coal office, but just the office building with the goods office signage. This will become the office for the goods shed part of my Maron Station & Shed layout.

I thought the kit was excellent, really easy to put together and really looks the part. So much so I'm going to have a go at one of their other kits; the inspection pit. The plan is to install this in the engine shed part of the layout. For now, here are pictures of the goods office.

You've made easy work of that so far. The Scalescenes kits go down well. There have been a few builds on the forum with these and the potential for improvisation in the right hands is immense.

    Great stuff

The low relief warehouse is also a good build, and if you look at these posts on the Victoria Road thread you can see how I combined the Low relief warehouse, with the Warehouse and goods shed kits to make a larger two storey building. A little further on is the Tennement shop build incorporating parts from the Large corner shops, the Low relief shop fronts and rears kits and some custom bits added.

I'm sure you'll enjoy letting the creative juices flow.

Sorry I forgot to put the links in

Viccy Rd Goods shed build post 63 onwards covers the start of the build (after I had built the free low relief ware house)

then if you haven't lost the will to live, follows on at page 10 to the shops build, and as a taster

    The rear of the shops

That coal office looks fantastic. I have just finished the warehouse with platform. Loving the Scalescenes kits. Will post a review.

Wow, these look fantastic, amazing what you can do with these card kits and a little customisation.

I have now settled on a final location for the goods office and managed to use one of the spare LEDs under the baseboards, so it lights up at the same time as my signal box, station building and goods yard building (seen in the background of the attached photo).

Good to read that you are enjoying building the Scalescenes kits.:thumbs::thumbs: They are great kits indeed. :D

I have in the past used the base sheet (printed sheet with door/window apertures etc) and glued these directly to 3mm foam core. Must always remember to do the maths first to reduce wall section widths to allow for the extra thickness of the foam core. Once all the windows and doors have been removed, cover with brick paper etc.

These few images here are printed sheets over the top of the foam core carcass.

Every structure in the photos above (excluding the pub) are all Scalescenes papers over foam core.

    Cheers, Gary.

Takes me back to the box file challenge earlier this year. I can feel the urge to add a few more to Sutton Torkard soon once scenery building starts.
I too have this foods office, the inspection pits, a signal box and also the free low relieve building in Hornby mag this month.
