I like the judging criteria as it will allow beginers to compete against more established modellers as thier overcomming of adversity can be recognised.

Just need to find a suitable candidate.... and finish the 4F . . thats only being going for 20 months - which November are we talking about 2023 to give me a chance :scratchchin:

Fair comment, but I doubt whoever judges will be looking at that, or should I say, take in to account.. it’s the work you do and your post updates that would count, not always the time and skill spent (with no disrespect intended to the gents you have named who do turn out some fine items) but what you have maybe learnt and the results.

I am hoping that using the poll system for voting that there will be more diversity in the way members vote. You can set your own criteria and weight the system the way you see it.

If you think the most pristine finisher perfe t build should take the prize .... then that's how you vote. However, if you think that somebodies method, effort and ge real overall entry should win .... that's fine as well. It should make things a little more unpredictable.

It's always good to win but ...... it should also be about participation as well. I'm glad to say that the outcome ........ is out of my hands. ..... phew.

As a newbie to the forum, I’ve been out of the modelling scene for many years but I might give this a go if only to give me a further incentive to get on with it and catch up.
Not sure of which kit to build if I do decide to bite the bullet and enter as I have a couple in the wings, but it will definitely be a SR tender loco.
Can you also dispel any rumours that Malcolm Mitchell & Nick Dunhill are thinking of entering? :D

Yes, I think voting, by full members only I presume, will help level the playing field for all comers, I'll have to pass on this competition as loco building is not my thing these days.

However, best of luck to all those that do

The only kit I have unstarted at present is the Rebuilt Merchant Navy on which Yorkie and I are intending doing a 'parallel build' of, but as yet Paul doesn't have the kit as he's awaiting Pat Ennis completing the intended upgrade, whereas mine is the earlier Jim Harris version (which should guarantee it being either a saga or fun, depending on your viewpoint!) so I'll pass on this competition. If the prize had been one of Mr Gladiators "Schools" class loco's though...........
