Well a new thread for a new, albeit relaunched Weybourne layout. I will be altering it to an L shaped layout and relaying some track to look more like the Sheringham terminus 5 miles from Weybourne. The shed base arrived today, it's a 12'x8' base so I need to alter it to a 12'x7' ready for the shed's arrival.I am covering the base with decking as the cross members on the base do not match the cross members on the shed. It will also give me a thicker, warmer floor!! IMG_0785Shed base -2 by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] This not the site for the shed, it's just laid out for measuring!! Very old photo of Sheringham station, the basis for the new(ish) layout. Station plan1 by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Much more to follow!! Cheers Ron
Crack on Sir, Looking forward to seeing this coming together again. The original concept was terrific ( and a bit of a marathon ) so good luck Toto
Busy building the shed base today, still in two halves until the final position is fixed. Still got to level it and cover with decking!!As the main decking arrives tomorrow I guess the base will have to wait until that's done (a weekends work I fear!).Anyway some progress and some photo's! Slight pause in the shed build while I get the decking laid, I think that's the weekend sorted!! IMG_0801Decking1 by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] CheersRon
I'm amazed how much framework there is in the deck ! Is it hardwood or treated softwood ? Are you going to raise the deck so that the floor is level with the door way ?? Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, it's treated wood, the decking is in kit form ready cut in 1.2m squares. 6 squares worked just right, by the time the decking's on it will be just below the door step (I hope!) Getting it level was the hardest bit and I still have the shed base to do! Cheers Ron
Hi Ron lots of work going on here Down hear in Oz we have these things called stirrups that we use to mount the Joists on and a newer style one a saw recently was adjustable may be handy for getting it all level Do you guys ever use Concreate we put poured slabs under everything Ron is that square closest to the camera the right way up looks like is upside down compared to the other or are they a universal "can go any which way" design. The adjustable stirrup Attached files

Yes Chris I'm considering using 'stirrups' for the shed base (when I've finished the 'bl**dy decking!!).Too old to be mixing concrete, did the last shed that way!!Anyway, more decking planks ready for screwing!! Cheers Ron
Keep the missus happy with the decking progress Ron ........ Think browny points and loco tokens. Very well done Sir.
Too true Tom!! I've finished the decking, only 6 hrs and 400+ woodscrews!! Start to think about getting the shed base done now! IMG_0817Decking4 by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] IMG_0819Decking5 by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] CheersRon
A hard days work needs a long cold beer ! The deck looks great and it seems to have the stamp of approval in the last pic ! Cheers, Gary.
