So thats what I need to follow with mine then ? I have the black emulsion but not the Satin varnish. That will be easily resolved. I'll nip into B & Q on the way home tomorrow. Been looking at xmas markets with SWMBO ....... looks like its Berlin this year. Charlottenburg. It was going to be Prague until I found out that they don't take the Euro which I have a couple of thousand of left over from Cyprus. toto

Now now gentlemen, No Kimbo, not homebrew but the top end of a dust extractor, and once the floors are full I'll switch it on. The shed has become the bosses storage place of first resort. Well it kinda has too as she's filled the loft, One day it may get cleared out and a 20 * 12 shed would be available....... Paul
Well its moved I'll find something to use as a back drop so it will stand out from the surrounding er junk Paul
just noticed your Charlottenburg post, went there many moons ago when the train ran through East Germany .. er if I remember correctly the area around the station was Berlin's biggest red light district .. or so I was told .. Ian vt
While Toto plans hoe to use his red LEDs for his cameo entry, after he has carried out the appropriate research , us minions will carry on (as ever) . I am using brass screws to secure the rail at the joints (No.4 x 5/8ths). The center line was marked on and the rail centers And the rails marked on the traverser and screws added - the ties between sleepers were removed from the last two sleepers, so that it can drop over the screws. The height of the screws will be adjusted toi touch the bottom of the rails, then tinned. And just for Toto A few wagons on the traverser Paul
Started the track laying, but looking for my fish plates - I've put them somewhere safe so I wont loose them. Filed the screw tops flat and adjusted the height to touch the underside of the Peco flex. Tinned and soldered a piece of flex in place. Then started on the first two tracks - adjusted the screws so that the track is level with the input track and soldered into place. track 3 up next ... Paul
If you don't find them, I have loads that you can have when you come down on Sunday. The soldering looks exhibition standard. I think these will draw a lot of interest at Elgin. ....... Shame about the rest of the layout. I'll be playing catch up in the shed over the space of tomorrow night and Saturday. I was in it tonight mentally formulating the plan / to do list in readiness for Sunday. ........ Thunderbirds are go. Keep up the great work Sir.
This is looking good Paul A tip for the track when you join leave a expansion gap between the rails of the traverser as and have a wire link around the fish plate as I found at exhibitions the rails have a habit of expanding and as they can't go out due to the soldered ends they tend to buckle I only glued the rail down for a few inches at each end as well and loosely tacked the middle Lessen learned at the first exhibition I did with it as a demo layout I also under estimated the gap required at the traverser end with expansion in a warm hall and had to file shorter as they started touching easy fix as I had a tool kit with me but wasn't expecting so much change. The gap I currently have Attached files
