Welcome aboard York Paul. The latest addition to the moderators team. York Paul is a seasoned modeller and a name you will see regularly on the forum. As well as his obvious skills with a soldering iron and many other tools of the trade, he willingly chips in and contributes in all aspects of the day to day life of the forum. He has been known to don his travelling shoes now and again and join in the crack at our exhibitions and meet ups. He'll now join the ranks of the tormented . Whether it's welcoming in new members, sorting out any issues for the existing members or chipping in to the various modelling threads, he's now officially been sucked in ...... mug. The moderators team has been bolstered as the forum grows and of course their time is given voluntarily and freely. The forum has always taken the view of running with plenty mods as some still work full time and of course we all have family and life commitments elsewhere ( which take priority ). The idea of being a little more covered than some other forums is to reduce any reliance on a smaller team to man the fort. Please feel free to Welcome our latest Mod ....... York Paul ....... and more importantly, make use of the mods should you need any advice or help. We are all part of the team and here to help. aboard Yorkie. Toto
I can't think of anyone more suited to join the Mods team than York Paul. As he's an ex-railwayman, I'm sure he knows more than many about how the railways (at least, here in the UK) ran and possesses a lot of inside knowledge that most of us are not aware of on aspects of railway operation, not to mention his skills in loco building and modelling in general. I'd like to join Toto in welcoming Paul to the team (you're in up to your neck now, Paul!) Keith.
Welcome to the mods team York Paul, with your skills I've got a sneaky feeling you could get busy Ian vt
Paul Commiserations! Did you get succoured in or was it of your own volition, in which case I withdraw the commiserations! Hey mydadstoys, keep yer daft mirrors out of sight, or else a proper biker might have to sort you out! (If we start a fight, we will see how good his moderatin' skills are!) {How do you grab a text writer by the scruff of the collar?, do we have collars?, do we know how to write?}
Well thank you all very much for the very warm welcome onto the Team by Staff, this new role is indeed something different for me so I'll just carry on as usual in my normally funny way just trying to be helpful with advice, non judgmental, unpolitical and swamp the Forum with loads of my build pictures which probably drives a lot of folk up the wall so to speak. Seriously a little about me, yes I'm an ex railway man who worked at Stoke on Trent up until the time of the mass cull of branches and yards sidings and staff post withdrawals in the early 1980's which left so many stations unstaffed or derelict, so my real passion lies with the old Knotty which referrers the dear old North Staffordshire Railway and the use of the Staffordshire knot as their logo. In modelling terms my main interest lies in the scratch build and kit builds, steam or diesel I am not partial and not adverse to Rail Blue either, the scale is O Gauge and I'm always trying to beat my own targets by testing my abilities in an attempt to capture the "super real" look through the medium of art as creative exploration. I knew a mid life change of direction studying art and architecture at Wolverhampton and Sunderland would one day come in useful. Anyway that's enough about me, I'll do my very best to fly the Platform 1 flag in sharing information, craft skills and knowledge and supporting Forum members wherever possible.
Gentlemen as the Forum motto says "everyone is welcome" and even scratch builders like myself use mirrors to get their loco chassis frames straight and level since I decided not to spend exorbitant amounts of money on a fancy jig. No Timber I guess I got drawn in because my dad once told me "never volunteer for anything".

and I thought you were the intelligent one, the trick is getting off the moderators list, I asked, Toto agreed and made me an administrator, daren't ask again. Congrats and welcome to the team Paul
