Most impressive! I have two questions, please tell me the make/source of the colours used in the S.R. coaling stage, and which adhesive you use for the foam board. Would hot glue work? Thank you, Doug
Just like the real thing GWR coach cream & Pheonix SR EMU green. I don't think you would have any issues with a hot glue gun. That should give a strong bond
Hi Steve is there a certain brand/type of teaddy bear fur ?? I'm guessing it comes in different lengths as well what did you use ?? Also what process did you use to colour it with Poster paint Aplication details?? Is it water bases? Sorry for all the ?? But is an interesting technique that I have never seen done before down under. I'm thinking may be good for when I get going on the big Oscale layout with large expanses of grass around the line side. Would be dry looking thought but that's just in the colouring. Thanks
Chris, In the past (pre internet shopping) I purchased some faux fur from a material/fabric shop, a small piece about 5" square. This, I have used on my previous NSWGR layouts for 'tuft' type of native grasses. I'm sure it would still be available. Cheers, Gary. ps. back to Steve's thread...
We have a haberdashery shop here in Chesterfield that sells Teddy bear fur like Gary has shown in rolls around 2ft (60cm) wide and you can purchase the length amount you need, it comes in various colours including a light beige/brown that can be dyed or painted, very reasonably priced. Pete.
Yes I've been doing more since I took this picture. I dye the teddy bear fur using a mixture of water based poster paints. More yellow than green. I apply with my hands using some washing up gloves. Once dry you can reapply if need be. If you get any clumping of paint give it a good brush with a stiff scrubbing brush.
