The down line will be dirtier, as it still the original bull head rail, goods trains would be braking hard down the grade. Typical but I've just run out of the JLTRT track dirt but I'm collecting more next weekend. The nozzle on their spray is directional so you can spray down the track centre without the need to mask. Here's what the retaining walls will look like. This is high quality printed paper from Kirtley models. The ballast is a buff colour, it does dry a few shades darker then when it's new. Attached files
Both boards bolted together today so I can finalise the ballast. Line side buildings temporarily in place and the concrete trunking and signalling cable glued down. I still have to clean away the PVA residue then it's on to track weathering Attached files
