Excellent use of the camera Gormo it could be used to spot potential track problems, like it! Ian

ianvolvo46 wrote: Second that, great way to see your model railway too. And good quality, given me an idea I'm going to have to send one of my cameras round the club layout on a flat truck And re Ian's second comment potential track probs. Saw this on the return trip Attached files
Thanks Chris, I didn`t spot that one. Funny though....no derailments.??? I`ll sort it out though.....something has shifted somehow.....it`s about a 1mm. Eventually something would have to derail there if it were not seen to. The little camera just paid for itself.!!! Toto.....that`s great.....I think you`ll enjoy a drivers eye view of your layout. One thing I found, when viewing the footage, was track, that I thought I had laid straight, wasn`t......I mean it`s just a little bit out and doesn`t affect things, but it`s amazing what shows up...as per the observation made by Chris. So I guess if we have any issues with track....especially in less accessible areas.....it may be a handy tool to use to find the problem area. Thank you all for your input and comments. http://www.click Gormo
TOP DEFINITION Foofe rN. "Foofer" A slight fart. V. "Foofered" The act of foofering.Oh man, I sure foofer allot!
Sorry Gormo was away for a while sorting RL things so posting a bit late about Tom and Foofering That is a great video mate and as said its paid for itself by spotting that slight movement in the track join. I can see these being used at slow speed on layouts with hidden areas for track inspection duties let alone drivers eye views Great Cheers Matt
Thanks Matt, Sorted the track problem......fairly easy to correct...thanks again Chris. http://www.click Gormo
G`day Folks, Hope to get posting soon about railway progress as there is none at the moment. I have been doing other things and when I venture out to the railway to make a start ......well the temptation to run trains overtakes me and there you are......lost again. I must admit though whilst running trains I`ve serviced three locos and sorted some issues so all is not lost. I had a serious issue with my computer yesterday which swallowed up a good part of the day. I decided to update my Moviemaker software from Microsoft and consequently the system also downloaded what seemed like the entire Microsoft site in updates. The updated Moviemaker had some features which I didn`t have before. Only trouble was that it kept crashing and my project was lost.....Aaaaaarrrggghhh!!! I restored the computer to an earlier configuration......ran a Windows Live Essentials repair and finished up back where I started. Moviemaker is now running properly on the earlier version and I managed to recover my project but it took me most of the day to get back to where I was the day before. Computers......don`t you love `em???? http://www.click Gormo Oh where, Oh where has my mojo gone, Oh where, Oh where can it be.??????
If you are not on 10, and if you are a Win 7 or 8.1 user, microsoft then sometime during Jan, microsoft are changing the Win10 upgrade to a recommended update, so if you have auto updates, you will automatically update to 10........ oh happy days. I have been using Corel Video Studio think I'm upto version 7 now (8 is the latest, and they normally have a version update in Jan/Feb). Copes really well with different source types e.g. 1080p / 720p / DV at different frame rates. Paul
Thanks for the heads up Paul, I downloaded 10 when it became available last year. I tried it for about three days. It annoyed me. It requires you to go into the settings and turn everything off otherwise you`re getting news feeds, this feeds, that feeds, chicken feed...Aaaaarrrggghhhh!!! Basically....when I had it under control....I felt I was no better off than I was with 7. So I removed it and went back to 7. There is still a nasty little 10 doover on my task bar though and it talks to Microsoft and pops up every now and then. I found out yesterday too that 10 doesn`t come with Moviemaker. You can download it from Microsoft, however it`s the 2012 version as they don`t do it anymore. How dumb is that???.....probably the most user friendly, intuitive movie software on the net for plodders like me and they stop developing it.....go figure?????I have tried to load some of the open source operating systems on my laptop but they won`t work. Ubuntu etc.etc....I think there is some fundamental issue with my laptop and it`s not compatible with them otherwise I would be Microsoft free.So we does the best wiv wot weev got.!!!! Cheers Gormo PS....sounds like I`m getting 10 whether I want it or not ???
Meanwhile back in the shed !!! I haven`t posted anything for five days on GCJ........getting slack Gormo?????? Well in an attempt at mojo revival I started a little restoration this afternoon. I had a couple of hours of free time to try a little idea I`ve been cooking for a while now. The idea is to restore my old (1980`s) Superquick signal box. It`s getting a bit tired around the edges and needs a face lift. I used my drawing program to print out a sheet of roof tiles and decided to stick them over the old roof. Didn`t like that...plus the old roof was just hanging on by a whisker anyway. So I cut out a new roof and removed the old one. Now here`s an opportunity to add some levers and some other interior detail. I`ll have to work that one out. In the meantime........fix the roof. So I printed out another different sheet of roof tiles this time and fixed them to the new roof. I cut strips two tiles wide and overlapped the topmost one with each subsequent layer. In for a penny.....in for a pound I say....so I put in the individual tile detail as well. It`s not perfect or accurate but I called on my old mate, artistic licence again......always good for an excuse.!!!.....and the three foot rule!!!!.....let`s not forget the three foot rule......Ah yes ...the good old three foot rule!!!....right!!!....sorted.!!!! Here`s a close up of the tiles. And in place on the layout........I will have to create some ridge tiles next and do a little painting. I will also go over the brick areas with some Scalescenes paper. refit the steps and do general touch ups and also create a signal box sign for Great Chesterford Junction. Oh...and new guttering too.!! So I think this little exercise has helped drive me back towards getting my second platform finished.........you just need that first step into creativity again and it bites you and you`re hooked. http://www.click Gormo
Hi Gormo, Time well spent. You've done a great job on the roof. Passes very close inspection. Keep up the good work bestest new buddy. I'll look forward to the brickwork " revival " and the continuation of your platforms. http://www.click Toto
Thanks Toto, Hey you`re new avatar........have you been using my little camera car for avatars.???? http://www.click Gormo
So....... I did wake you up when I knocked the lid of the bucket ......... sorry Gormo. Anyway ..... its back now. cheers toto
Blimey Toto, Where are you finding these things.????......I`m starting to feel ultra conservative with just a pic in my avatar........this is becoming competitive. The quest for the quirkiest avatar........nah!!!!.....I`m going back to the shed. Cya.....now where did I put that brick sheet??????....dum dee dee dee dum dum.. Oh and then glue...????? http://www.click Gormo
Your Avatar is just fine ......... part of the brand. Looks like we will be doing synchronised brick paper fixing........ cheers toto
G`day Folks, Finished !!.....Platform next. New ridge tiles were made up on my drawing program and fitted like so and a new guttering strip also. Made a downpipe out of some copper wire shaped to suit and painted black. The original kit did not have a downpipe. Stairs refitted and a sign made up to identify the box. The sign was printed onto photo paper and then sealed with matt spray sealer. The stairs look pretty grotty through years of neglect. Don`t need to weather them....bonus !!! Scalescenes brick paper strip around the bottom also and I made up the brown cover strips for the corner detail. It hides that gap that you get with these kits. So here it is complete enough for me......no interior detail.....I thought about it.....considered it carefully and in the end.....I just said Nah!!!....forget it. And again So that`s it folks.......another job done and things learnt for future restorations. http://www.click Gormo
Nice make over Gormo. You have turned an old tired looking kit into a fresh model. Great work. Are you going to or have you resheeted the chimney ? Cheers, Gary.
