We are prepared to give him a waxing before hand, if that will help with adhesion and should cut down on the amount of PVA as well Paul
G`day Folks, The chimney has been left as it is Gary......it`s OK and it`s at the back.....so barely seen.....she`ll be right.!!!!. Thanks Ron and Paul also for your comments. If you want to send Toto over ....that`s OK.....but you better send him by conventional methods. I don`t want a stressed out postie banging on my door delivering a package that`s wriggling and shouting obscenities with a Scottish accent.!!!!!....Heaven forbid !!! Don`t worry Gary......I`ve got plenty of PVA.......more than enough to give Toto a make over. Do you think he would look better in Red or Brown brick paper.......Scalescenes obviously.....we only use the best materials over here in Oz. I`ve also got some nice brick arches for his eyebrows.......la de da???? Well..?????....wait till he reads this......I won`t be his newest, bestest buddy old pal anymore......I`ll be exiled to the parts bin!!! http://www.click :xmas-wave: Happy Red Hat Day Gormo

Go get `em Toto, Well folks, I managed to restart the platform build today. We`ve had another stinker of a day so my work was done in shifts. Even with the aircon on in the railway room it was quite uncomfortable. We are having tropical weather at the moment. Absolutely pelting down rain at the moment and when that stops it will create even more humidity.........Oh well ....what can you do???.....just push on I guess.??? So here we go....the usual drill. Platform sides are covered with brick paper and right angled brackets are fixed to the back with contact adhesive. I reduce the space between, and therefore use more, brackets on the curved sections to give a smoother curve. I am working on the second baseboard at the moment Here I have incorporated the end of the bay platform into the bracing. A better view of the bracket system. They are spaced at 60mm on the curve. And a view from the bay platform end And a view of the curve. I am very close now to starting the bracing. That will take me two or three days to complete and then onto making the tops for the platform. The eagle eyed among you may notice a tree in the pic above. It`s one of my home made jobs. I gave it a bit of a touch up with colour the other day and planted it to see how it scrubs up near the backscene. Here`s a pic. And another......I`m still not sure about the colour, however when it`s standing along side other trees of varying colour, it`ll probably go unnoticed. More as it happens Judging by the sound of the rain outside, I`d better turn my attention to building an Ark. http://www.click Gormo
Moving Right Along, Some bracing is now appearing in the platform. Bit by bit it is starting to happen. Dribs and drabs are better than nothing. This is the area where the main station building will sit. The void behind was designed to accommodate removable scenery for access. I`ve been popping in and out of the void to do some of the platform work.....Keeps you fit!!! This looks very deep but the station building fills up a good chunk of the depth so this pic is deceptive. The little corner blocks are just a bit of strength insurance. Probably not necessary once the lid is on but I thought I should put them in anyway.? So I`ve started at the bay end and I`m working my way up to the station building bit and beyond. The opposite end has been secured with a brace also So I`ll keep plugging away at it and I`ll get there in the end. The problem is that each brace is different to the next, so each one involves a measure, cut and fit operation. That`s what happens when you build odd shaped platforms I guess??? Now to give me hope, I`ve taken a couple of " I`ll have a railway one day " pictures......so here they are.......no particular reason or theme......I just took them because the DMU was there and it looked good through the lens. More as it happens http://www.click Baron Von Gormo III
Really starting to fill out now Gormo. I take it that was a picture of your holiday home set back on the hillside. You'll needed to get your own coat of arms designed. ....... Looking forward to seeing the station building coming into play. Cheers Toto
Yes Toto, We call it " The Shack"........it`s just one of a series of homes we have all over Europe. The home we have here in Oz was purchased so that we could live incognito and blend in with the great unwashed.....which I might add we seem to do quite successfully.???? All my neighbors think I`m just a Yobbo.....just like them........Hah!!!!......if only they knew...Ay????.....if only they knew????? Of course this information must be kept in complete confidence. My neighbors will never be aware of what has been mentioned here......most of them can`t read.!!!! The ones that can read, can`t spell, and the ones that could read and spell are either in jail or in politics......so they don`t care.!!! http://www.click Baron Von Gormo III ( incognito )
