Great build Kim Great idea the Jack as the base and mount in one actualy looks like a cast base of a pole. Nice way of powering the lamp as well clever mounting stays strong whilst building/bending etc and then cut the gap at the top when done, perfect
Thanks again for all the kind comments. I should be installing sound chips at the moment but this scratch building can get quite addictive, I must stop.......well after I've painted it and plugged it in, this is what I have....... The problem now is that I think I need two more That tree needs some attention, it looks like its been drinking ! When the paint dry's that lamp shade will need dulling down a bit and the plug in the baseboard will need a dab of black paint. Amazing what a photo will show up that you miss under the work bench lights. Back to sound installs now...honest !!!
Stunning piece of work once again, hats off to you. It is all this detail that you can get into a model that is appealing about O gauge. Love your work, keep the tutorials coming. Cheers, Gary.
KimReally looks the part, well done thank you also for the How-To !!! I have just noticed the new Chimney by the water tower
I've had a little play around tonight to see if I can show those of you who model in oo/ho and possible n gauge that it is possible to make a home made lamp. First just to show the difference in scales.... Using a 3mm LED and the same build procedure as per the O gauge one with a little help from I think Ratio by way of the ladder and "hoop" By bending the LED legs I could just about make the long leg parallel to the tube, the short leg needed a small off cut to match up. I used this joint to solder the one wire. The red wire was soldered to the long leg. This is a 1.8mm micro dot LED. Bend the legs as before and cut off the spare. Now I have not got any plastic tube this small, this is a solid rod, but by soldering the LED away from the tubing and then feeding the wires inside I re-con it should be possible to achieve a reasonable lamp. The resistor would need to go under the board. The shade could be the square block at the back of the LED painted black or possible make one from milliput etc. This one is possible to tall for n gauge but I'm sure you get the idea. have fun, and lets see your efforts please. Kim
Thanks Kim, for how to:- after flower show will have a go at making a couple or sohttp://www.click RALPH
Top stuff Kim Just goes to show that the modelling techniques transfer readily between all the scale's it's only the size of the magnifying Glass that changes
Great shots Kimbo. Every scene excellent. well built and well composed. I like the man reading the paper in his erm ....... office. look forward to more. cheers toto
Thanks Paul, Toto, Chris. A little video clip to show why from the start of this build I added extra space to the front of the layout plan.Still lots to do and improvements to be made..... Kim
