I have actually taken a back seat over the last couple of weeks. Need to pull my finger out now and get back into the swing of things... ;)

    Cheers, Gary.

Nice start Ian,I've never been brave enough to paint a back scene, hence the large expanse of white walls behind my layout :avatar:

Test fitted the traverser using the brass engineers dowels and as expected the surface is higher than the scenic section. However once I add another layer of cork/card to the scenic board it'll be fine. Repainting backscene next as it's too bright then 4 way switch ready for track/electrics but pleased with the progress to date. More visitors coming soon and book to catch up with, 14,698 words so far but need at least 60,000 I had more time before I retired (probably because I skived/bunked off/threw sickie).

Using a small base I made for a previous project I have decided to utilise it in my latest plank as a simple sliding block traverser. Its just big enough to fit a J72 or even a 3f loco. Exit/entrance points will be behind the Wagon repair shed/offices and a low relief engine storage shed to the front. not sure whether I need a second point from the traverser.

I would. I think I'd move it further to the right though and move the uncoupling magnet to the left of the point, that will give you a run round facility.

    Cheer's, Pete.

Breaking news! The other 5/8ths found cork tiles in a Chinese sell everything shop.

First build of sliding loco traverser using the wooden frame from the cork/card pin board (needs must). Although it's basic and needs the height adjusting, once finished with side walls and buffer stop I'll be able to lift it and the the loco off to turn it around ... had to use a tenon saw as the other 5/8 wouldn't let me use a chop saw in the lounge even though I offered to buy her a new brush! ... only joking about the brush ... there's nothing wrong with the one she's got ... ok off to hide now!
