I've mocked up one of the tenements that will go all along the back of the layout. These will eventually be built using a ply structure clad in suitable materials Attached files
That's where I'm at for the moment. Taking a few dimensions for a mock up screening plant. I think once I get the initial feel of the scale it won't be so difficult. Fingers crossed. Cheers Toto
It's also what frightens me with O gauge, knowing the relative size of the loco's those buildings will be massive, looking forward to seeing the results tho' Paul
I've made a few more, it's nice to get a physical structure in place to get a feel of it Attached files
Still need to finish these and make more tomorrow, I have plenty of card so might as well. Attached files
Hi Steve, Coming along. It's trying to gauge the dimensions between floors. Can be quite difficult I think. Especially in more bespoke type buildings. However I guess you just make a start and half it is accuracy and half of it is what looks right to the eye. Looking forward to more. Cheers Toto
The difference is amazing Steve, so what it will look like when the finished buildings are in place will be breathtaking! Pete.
What are you going to construct the finished products with ? Maybe based on a plywood construction with some sort of sheeted covering as you should be able to cover large expanses at a time that way. Looking forward to seeing it all come together.
All quiet this morning!! Track work will be my number 1 priority next year along with buildings Attached files
The rear of the tenements will be a ply box construction covered in slaters embossed plasticard. The front extensions will be laser cut boxes. All of the windows will also be laser cut. I will make the dormers as I can individualise them. There will also be lots and lots of chimney pots!
Sounds like it's well thought out. The ply will provide good strength and durability. Especially if there is a chance that they will be moved about at any time. Again, the sheet materials should make for quick and consistent construction once you are happy with the overall scale and measurement side of things. I will be using a mixture of ply, plastikard sheets etc on my buildings. Watching with interest for the outcome and any progress reports. Cheers Toto
After 4 years I finally have my 9F kit. It's been completely worth it, the castings are the best I've seen. Attached files
Your going to need a bigger shed soon Steve with the new addition to the Roster it's going to be a nice addition Big Power got to love it.
