Thanks Gormo, I'll do my best to do as little damage as I can, I have already removed the 'bridge' at the door end and removed all the trees! (Sings 'I,m a lumberjack and I'm all right, I work all day and I sleep all night! etc etc!) Cheers Ron
'The desolation of Weybourne!' Started taking the layout apart today, started OK only a couple of track to cut and then the boards should be ready to remove. I'm trying to keep the damage to a minimum and store everything until it reaches it's new home. 1st pick only needs a modern dmu and it will look right upto date - nae buildings, give it a wet look and it could Scotland, actually it could be Wales, with all them Welshmen wetting them selves laughing at todays rugby result. Paul - an Englishman in Scotland, now with a price on his head

There's something very depressing about seeing a layout being dismantled, even if it is going to be reassembled How well will it fit in it's new home Ron Ed
I agree with ed. Very sad to see. Hope it goes back together ok Ron. A lot of good work has gone into it. Toto
Being a cup half full kinda guy, although sad to see it does give you the opportunity to fix anything, that may have been a niggle, that that tweak that you wished you had thought of earlier but wouldn't do as it would mean pulling the layout apart. Or an excuse to just start a fresh. Paul
paul_l wrote: Yep, been there, done that and thrown away the t-shirt ! I have built a few layouts over the years and one of the first larger layouts I built with my old mate Murray, was pulled apart to be moved to a shed in my yard. It went from 6' wide to 10' wide and it was also shortened from 18' to 16'. Then I moved house a few years later and the layout was dismantled. The remains of the layout were used to build Jack's layout "Jacks Corner". Also a larger poition of track went into building Kelly Bray, which reminds me, that needs rekindling... Cheers, Gary.
Thanks for the sentiments guy's, I'm not enjoying doing it but have spotted a few things I can update when it's resurrected! Hoping to either use the small 3rd bedroom (10'x7') or a new shed may be needed and all that that entails. I will work on Hinchcliffe in the meantime (after we've moved!) and try to finish that with a small fiddle yard added on? Cheers Ron
Weybourne update: IMG_0775Weybourne down by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Started dismantling the layout, think I'll have to re-wire when it's rebuilt! On an up note, we visited the new house yesterday and the layout room (Bedroom 3) has had a lot of stuff removed and is looking good for Weybourne Mk2. I don't think I can do a 'roundy roundy' this time but an end to end looks possible? Cheers Ron casablanca hinchcliffe copy - Copy by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Yes, there is always Hinchcliffe (my plank/Inglenook layout!)
Sounds good Ron ! Why no roundy roundy ? Is it because of the door ? If so change the door to open out not in, or but in a sliding door with a slight cut back in the door end of the layout for the door to slide into and then re use your flap from the shed.
All good idea's but I must keep SWMBO'd happy otherwise I'm out in the coal house (as was!) Cheers Ron
An end to end will make you work the layout more Ron. That can be a good thing. Inside as well. Sounds like a winner to me. Toto
Why do I keep thinking of the 'Desolation of Smaug' (Hobbit film)?? Anyway another evening of breaking things up and trying tosave what I can!! Packing it up is a real PITA ! But all the stock and buildings are boxed up and the baseboards loose and ready to dismantle. Getting there by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Boxed up by RON CLARKE, on Flickr[/img] Cheers Ron
Weybourne is now in 4 pieces, apart from one piece of track coming adrift! I've manged to save all the buildings and bridges and the stock is safely packed with half a mile of bubble wrap!! This is not the end of Weybourne but it might be a while before I get to rebuild it due to jobs around the new house etc.. but watch this space........ Cheers Ron
