Just bite the bullet and concrete the floor and build the shed up off that ! I'll be looking forward to the 'new' Weybourne and Sheringham Railway. Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, been there and mixed that!! (concrete that is!). Too old for concretre mixing now, the back wouldn't take it!!Been talking to the shed makers this morning and they said if I was using a 'Portabase' then my best bet would be to cover that with decking before putting the shed up. Sounds a good idea as I will have some spare deck boards when I've finished the decking area at the rear of the house! Levelling and damp proofing it will be an easy job then with a stronger floor! CheersRon
Took a photo of the old station layout whilst on a visit last month. Station plan1 by RON CLARKE, on Flickr
Change of shed size!! now going for 12'x7' instaed of 10'x8', fits the garden plan better! https://www.waltons.co.uk/12-x-7-pressure-treated-pent-shed CheersRon
I'm with you on the 12x7, especially in OO, the two feet extra length will make more of a difference than the extra foot in width. For my shed I made brick pillars with a DPC on the top layer and used 6 x 4 joists to support the floor, as the ground falls 12" from 1 diagonal corner to the other, minimum ground clearance is 8", going to 20" at the other. Paul
Wow Paul...you got quite a drop there but sounds like the engineering works took care of that.?? http://www.clickGormo
The shed is an L shape, 20ft x 20 ft on the long sides, the main body being 20 x 12, with the short leg being 8 x 8, the drop being the diagonal accross the 20 x 20. It would be great for a model railway, if it wasn't so cold in the winter, and more importantly wasn't full of junk Paul
Funny you should mention the cold, just bought the first of many rolls of ThermoWrap for the new shed!!
Shed base is arriving today as is the patio/decking!! I will start a new thread I think and the shed build and layout will be included. Still stripping wallpaper and painting in the house, I have to keep Lynne happy so as to get my jobs done as well! Cheers Ron
