A bit more progress. This is now a garage! I decided to add an additional structure to the side of the main building. Also served as an opportunity to practice painting the concrete. I wanted to represent a bricked up window too - no particular reason, just a feature I fancied and I think it turned out OK. The roof of the main garage will be corrugated, but decided on slate just for visual variation...and yes, cut slates I'm afraid - life is too short!
Is it a concrete building or a brick building rendered? Lovely job. And yes, I think you got the bricked up window spot on!
Thank you all for the comments and likes. More garage progress tonight - I've painted the doors. I wanted a faded and peeling effect. The white bit was an attempt to represent an old peeling poster stuck to the door. About 30 seconds after doing it I decided I hated it and painted over it. The internal brick wall is from Scalescenes - not much can be seen with the roof on so it does the job just fine. I've also made a start on the end brick wall. Matt
Why not use a real (scaled) poster? Although what exists in real life sometimes looks crap trying to replicate in model form.,, Well done on having a go! It’s a great model!
Thought of that Andy, just wouldn't have worked. Having painted over it (with a subtle twist!), all now looks OK - in my opinion only of course!
Don't know if you have come accross Jason Jenson Trains, but here is a video of the way he does signs (think you can skip to approx 11 mins in to the build video. Paul
Hi Matt, It's looking very good. I think to have just distressed the s8nage enough. Enough to suggest they have been there for a while without taking it to the extreme. ,any others age them to a greater degree as they do look good nut I think slight variations jump out better as fewer folks take the lighter touch. I wouldn't do anymore. A good balance has been struck. Toto
I won't drag this out any longer, I promise! Just completed the final details - flashing on the end wall and moss on the roof.
Not dragged out at all. A very enjoyable thread with great finishing touches. As J said before, not over done. Nice subtle finishes adding character.
Well done Matt, Truly a worthy choice for pic of the week. An excellent build. Thanks for sharing this with us. Toto
