Who's a lucky boy then Jack? Very nice looking locos. Look after them and they will last you a lifetime. Waiting to see them in action on your plank when it's ready.
Hi Jack, fantastic looking loco's. I'll look forward to seeing the first video of these bad boys strutting their stuff. Now ....... DCC sound Mmmmmm toto
Gary wrote: They Do look good, Gary, on your layout and by the sound of it Jack got to the postie before you did so lost this one dad, Also look out Gary Jacks being lead astray with the suggestion of sound not just DCC Jack time to start dong all your chores and saving for those decoders sounds not everything most of my Diesels don't have sound. Looking forward to seeing these being tested on J D.
I must admit, the sound loco's do sound good, especially with a good base enhanced speaker, but its best in small doses (say just two loco's ) Paul PS nice loco's
Not a lot has happened on my layout as Dad has been busy with getting Industry Lane done before the exhibition. My magnets to be used for uncoupling, have arrived from China, finally. Dad ordered 100 of these as he wanted some spares just in case. I think they may be used on his layout ! I will use about 72 of these on my layout. These are them. They are 10mm long and 3mm wide. Dad thinks these are easier to install on the layout than the way he has done his magnets on his layouts. We watched a youtube video and it seems pretty easy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGyVfSyDlp4 Chow, Jack.
Hi Jack Lance Mindheim has some interesting ideas for switching layouts Thought you might be interested. The links are to Lance's site and the embedded youtube link http://lancemindheim.com/2011/10/the-operations-mindset-symphony-to-be-savored-or-bitter-pill-to-be-swallowed/ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WTJ12FILen0 Cameron
Hi Jack, Make sure you get to them before dad. You know what he's like Looking forward to seeing what is next on your agenda with the layout. Cheers Toto
Jack I reckon there's a few senior members quietly panicking over their own progress now... oh if you need a goat let me know (mines called Fox but you could call yours Coyote) Ian vt
Thanks Ian, but I think I will name my goat Dingo...! The magnets are already in ready for uncoupling, but a few more need to be put in place. We rewired my layout from dc to dcc yesterday. Dad told me that he wants to take off the point motors and replace them with wire in tube. He said it is easier with less wires. Two wires and the droppers are better than what was there. About 40 wires were taken out and this is so much simpler... Chow, Jack.
Good to see things moving again Jack. These baseboards look a fair old length and the wiring looks neat.
Wow, In saying that, I bet it worked a treat. Still ....... DCC is the way to go. Ohhhh ......and ...... Get yourself some cobalts. Jack will be able to control them from his NCE handset. ....... Never mind the cost
Considering all the points are within 17" of baseboard length, wire in tube is the way to go. After all, you are sitting in front of the layout to operate ! Cheers, Gary.
Dad fixed up the points today with wire in tube workings. The tube has been glued to the bottom of the baseboard with the wire inside. These are the knobs on the edge of the baseboard. The wire was bent upwards and some Plastic tube glued to the wire with a thicker tube glued over that to make a handle. Chow, Jack.
A short video of my GP40. You better turn your sound up loud as the speaker is very quiet... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rqpMhT87E0&feature=youtu.be Chow, Jack.
