Just wondering if you have stripped paint off models using brake fluid ?? I have read that it has good results, but then again, it depends on the compound of the plastic the model has been made of... I'm guessing that the repaint will be BR green ?? Will you be using Humbrol RC 405 ?? Or have you another brand/colour ?? I'm looking forward to your airbrushing skills. In regards to new decals, who's decals do you recommend or are you using ?? Cheers, Gary.
All hail the wonders of Yee Olde Dettol The Dettol loosens the paint, it does not dissolve it. A stiff brush loosens the paint, just keep dipping back into the dettol tank, then repeat until all paint is removed Then rub on neat washing up liquid before washing in water - and voila And it worked on the Lima's as well Result just let them dry and ready for painting - oh hum....... The Dettol will be left to stand for a couple of days, then passed through a coffee filter, before putting back into the bottles for next time. Paul
Job done then. Now, ........ I fear the airbrush is ready to go into overdrive ........ but ........ what colours does one detect ?
Hi Gary and Toto Colour will be either Maroon or Crimson. I have a Precision P108 BR Dull Maroon, but it is an Enamel - as this will be painted indoors, it may not be the best choice. I also have a Humbrol 20 Crimson, not the right colour, but after weathering we'll see how it looks, after all the Replica's looked too bright but after a black wash toned down nicely. Transfers - if I can find them, will be HMRS Presfix sheet 14 http://www.ehattons.com/56222/Gaugemaster_Controls_14P_HMRS_locomotive_and_coach_numbers_and_logos_press_fix/StockDetail.aspx As for airbrush skills, this will be more a how not to..... Paul
Oh forgot to mention - when working the paint off, make sure to wear gloves, remeber the paint is just loosened off, so will now stick to your hands really really well.... don't ask. And remember to clean the sink before the boss returns, and put the dishes away before you start - otherwise you have to wash them again - again don't ask Paul
Yeah, extra brownie points, I did the dishes and washed the sink without any prodding, see all that money and time spent traing the dog is starting to pay off - at least one of us listened, pity it wasn't the dog
After a long discussion with the dog, he's passed on a few tips. Main one, just get it right occationally, you get more treats that way, so I think I will need Morag to show me again how its done properly Paul
No Toto, it goes something like this, "Now sit Paul, sit. Good boy, now roll over..." "Does Paul want a treat ?. No, no, get down, sit ! You won't get that A4 if your not a good boy..." Cheers, Gary.
Toto, when the bell rings, youre supposed to bark, sheesh you'll never get past Mutt 101. Shinies arrived Flush glazing from South Eastern Finecast. Paul
They need scratching and graffiti added before fitting, never been on a train where the windows could be seen through, and have often enjoyed what reading what Paul did to Tina
Ahhhhh ....... Very good. All set to go then. When does the airbrushing start ? You must be champing at the bit now.
