So the 37 is only a few days old and the tinkering begins!! First up I've added the little plastic lugs under the buffers for the additional air pipes, All the pipes are supplied but I've ordered some cast ones as I prefer them. Secondly as mine is a WR example it needs WR lamp brackets, again these are supplied but you have to drill holes either side of the 4 character head code. Not a problem. The issue is the holes for the standard pattern lamp brackets. What I did was to cut the lug off the standard pattern ones and pop them in as they are painted yellow and I don't intend on repainting the front end. On my chosen prototype D6830 the Blue stars are on the yellow panel and right where the lamp brackets holes are so I shall obtain some transfers and place them directly over the top which should hide it a little better. Next up is the bogie sides, these simply pop off so they are easy to remove. Plus if you want to get in the body for sound fitting or to add a driver this is the easiest way to access the screws. I'm going to remove the molded on pipe detail and replace with some fine wire to give it a little extra depth. I'm going to order the detail pack Fromm Pete Harvey that has etch steps designed to mount on the Heljan bogie and it also come with Timken etch axle box covers. Works plates and shed code plates are on order from Severn Mill. Attached files
Shopping list so far, Precision labels 4 Character head codes, the see through type. Pete Harvey detail pack PH7Cl37D2 JLTRT pipes and castings.
Pete Harvey etches have arrived along with new scalpel blades and wire! As I'm waiting in for UPS Tomorrow I shall make a start on the bogies. My castings from JLTRT are now being made so will probably be a few weeks away yet. Attached files
About an hours work and the first bogie side is done Steps are only temp in place as they partially cover the centre axle box Attached files
I'd imagine that it's very fragile. Won't take much handling. That's the only draw back. It does look good though.
Here it is sat back in place, its is fragile, however I've had these fitted on my Hymek with no major issues so fingers crossed we will be ok Attached files
Very nice Steve, really looks the part. Can I ask, do these etches come with detailed instructions for running the extra pipework and detailing?Regards Kim
